Kenmerken van PLA 3D Filament: 

  1. Biologisch afbreekbaar en milieuvriendelijk: PLA is gemaakt van hernieuwbare grondstoffen zoals  of suikerriet. Het is biologisch afbreekbaar onder industriële composteeromstandigheden, wat het een milieuvriendelijker optie maakt vergeleken met petroleumgebaseerde kunststoffen.
  1. Lage smelttemperatuur: PLA heeft een relatief lage smelttemperatuur (tussen 180°C en 220°C), waardoor het gemakkelijker te printen is op de meeste 3D-printers zonder dat er een verwarmd printbed nodig is. Dit maakt het ideaal voor gebruik in thuisprinters en in educatieve omgevingen.
  1. Goede oppervlaktekwaliteit: Prints gemaakt met PLA hebben een glanzende afwerking en kunnen zeer gedetailleerd zijn, waardoor het een populaire keuze is voor cosmetische prints en prototypes die een goede oppervlakteafwerking vereisen.
  1. Minder warping: Warping (het kromtrekken van de print tijdens het afkoelen) is een veelvoorkomend probleem bij 3D-printen, maar PLA heeft de neiging minder te warpen in vergelijking met andere materialen zoals ABS. Dit maakt het gemakkelijker om grote en complexe modellen te printen zonder dat er vervormingen optreden.
