De Aluminium plant dankt zijn naam aan de zilveren patronen op zijn bladeren, die lijken op aluminiumfolie. Het is een plant die weinig onderhoud nodig heeft, waardoor het ideaal is voor mensen die nieuw zijn in het kweken van planten binnenshuis. Het gedijt goed in helder indirect licht en heeft regelmatig water geven nodig om de grond vochtig te houden maar niet doorweekt. Met zijn unieke bladeren en gemakkelijke verzorging is de Aluminium plant een geweldige toevoeging aan elke verzameling van kamerplanten.
Bij het verzorgen van een Pilea is het belangrijk om de plant op een plek met halfschaduw te plaatsen, omdat deze indirect zonlicht verkiest. Eenmaal per week water geven is voldoende om de plant gehydrateerd te houden. De Aluminium plant, ook wel bekend als de Artillery plant, gedijt het beste in goed doorlatende grond die iets zuur is. Vermijd overbewatering of het doorlaten worden van de grond. Bemest de plant elke twee tot vier weken tijdens het groeiseizoen, met behulp van een uitgebalanceerde kamerplantenmest verdund tot de helft van de sterkte. Dit zorgt ervoor dat de Pilea de nodige voedingsstoffen krijgt om te gedijen. Vergeet niet te genieten van deze mooie plant in zijn decoratieve pot!
