Lavandula angustifolia ‘Hidcote’ is één van de meest populaire lavendelsoorten dankzij zijn compacte groei en intens paarsblauwe bloemen. Deze winterharde lavendel bloeit rijkelijk in de zomermaanden (juli tot en met augustus) en verspreidt een heerlijke geur die bijen en vlinders aantrekt. Daarmee is hij niet alleen een sierlijke, maar ook een biodiverse toevoeging aan je tuin.

De Lavandula ‘Hidcote’ groeit het beste op een zonnige standplaats met goed doorlatende, liefst licht kalkrijke grond. Hoe meer zon, hoe voller de bloei en hoe intenser de geur. Deze lavendel is zeer geschikt voor borders, rotstuinen, lage hagen en potten op terras of balkon.

Verzorging en snoei
Om de plant compact en gezond te houden is snoeien belangrijk. Knip direct na de bloei (september) de uitgebloeide bloemen weg om nieuwe groei te stimuleren. In het vroege voorjaar (eind februari) kun je de plant nogmaals terugsnoeien tot net boven het houtige gedeelte. Gebruik altijd een scherpe en schone snoeischaar om beschadiging te voorkomen.
