De Frida-serie is een portretcollectie van Frida Kahlo op groot formaat canvas, oorspronkelijk gepresenteerd tijdens de groepstentoonstelling Retro Fantastic in 2019 in het Dutch Design Hotel Artemis, Amsterdam.

Het uitgangspunt is een krachtig portret van Frida Kahlo, dat zowel trots als littekens toont. Alle werken delen dezelfde compositie, maar zijn elk uniek door variaties in kleur en afwerking. In de pop-art geïnspireerde versies straalt Frida in levendige, expressieve kleuren.

De zichtbare gescheurde randen en overlappende lagen geven de werken een bijzondere diepte en dynamiek. Deze combinatie van kleur en textuur benadrukt de balans tussen kwetsbaarheid en kracht, gesymboliseerd door Frida’s houding. Zo ontstaat een eigentijdse ode aan een iconisch figuur, die traditie en moderne beeldtaal samenbrengt.
