Het vlaggenschip van huize Herbel met druiven afkomstig van het perceel La Rue aux Loups in Rochefort sur Loire. Spatzuivere Loire Chenin met een enorm mineraal karakter en ram vol leven.  Geel fruit en zachte tropische tonen en gastronomisch breed inzetbaar. Fijn aromatisch en heerlijk bij zalm, ceviche of een mooi geitenkaasje. 

Dit kleine domein van 3 ha.in St.Lambert du Lattay (Anjou) werd sinds 2005 gerund door Nadège en Laurent Herbel, voorheen Les Vignes Herbel. Sinds 2018 echter, behoort het domein geheel toe tot vigneronne Nadège en zo lanceerde ze in 2020 als veelbetekenende stap haar drie eigen Nadège cuvée's, met meer op de planning. Het domein is volledig bio-dynamisch en de vinificatie is naturel. De gaarden liggen nabij Anjou maar zijn bewust vin de France gelabelt, want, zo terecht, gaat het om de wijn en terroir en niet om de appellatie. Ze teelt er voornamelijk Chenin Blanc met in het bijzonder 0,3 ha aan zeer oude wijnstokken, aangeplant tussen 1920 en 1921 evenals 1,40 ha Cabernet Franc en Cabernet Sauvignon uit 1974. In 2020 heeft ze ook als onafhankelijke vigneronne een deel Pineau d'Aunis, aangeplant.

Better than thin plastic boards
I used to use one of those thin/bendable plastic cutting boards, thinking it's easier to transfer food into pots/pans from the board, but they tend to get bent in time and they're simply too thin and I hated the feeling of my knife pretty much hitting the kitchen counter. So, I decided to buy this set. I wanted to try a wooden board, but didn't want to spend too much in case I didn't like it, and this set had the perfect price tag and I liked the fact it came with 4 different sizes, so that I can see what size would actually be more useful. I've been using it for 2 months now they're doing great (except one of them started splitting a bit and started showing some strange black dots on the side... possibly mold??? though I can't think of any reason why mold would grow on just one of them. Maybe it's related to the fact that it's the only one that's cracking. And this is the only reason why I gave 4 stars instead of 5.) Anyway, apart from that one, the rest are doing well and having 3 boards is plenty. I like the juice groove to avoid spilling liquid on the board, as it happened so many time using the bendable plastic boards. I'm handwashing them with dish soap. They seem to dry pretty fast, and so far no stains etc. on the surface. They're not super duper thick so even the largest one is not too difficult to handle. I sometimes use them to serve some food like appetizers, snacks, pizzas and sandwiches, etc. too!

Updated review: spitting and splintering
UPDATE: Originally, one of the boards arrived with a split in it, but I was still happy with them. After a few weeks of light use, hand washing and drying of the boards, I figured it was time to update this review and knock these down to 1 star. The boards do not hold up very well. Cut marks are deep, and they are starting to splinter. Another of the boards has also developed a split. Save your money and go with cutting boards from someone else. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I bought these cutting boards to cut down on microplastic exposure. This would be a 5 star review except that one of the boards arrived cracked (noticed while hand washing all of them before use). Despite the one cracked board, I did not return them, as I immediately started using the boards, was too busy to deal with it at the time, and the overall value was still there. These boards are great, the value is excellent since you get several of different sizes. I like that all sizes have the moat for juices, because sometimes you are cutting one or two chicken breasts or one steak and don’t want to have to grab a big board. I honestly am writing this review because I wouldn’t be surprised if the company sends me a replacement. If they do, I will update the review to reflect their customer service.
