Perfecte isolatie
Dikke, dichte, korte haren met een dichte ondervacht: de vacht van de Labrador Retriever is waterdicht en beschermt hem tegen schrammen en kou. De talgklieren scheiden grote hoeveelheden talg af, zodat het water van zijn vacht af glijdt, zoals bij de veren van een eend.

Beheersing van de eetlust
De labrador heeft van nature meer vetmassa dan de meeste andere honden. Dit is ook niet vreemd, we weten namelijk dat zijn voorouders zwommen in de koude Atlantische Oceaan. Om deze kou te trotseren, heeft de Labrador een dikkere laag vet. Daarom is een Labrador een gulzige eter met een grote eetlust, waardoor hij een grote kans op overgewicht heeft.

Gewrichtsbeheersing
De Labrador Retriever is een gedreven sporter en zet zich voor 100% in. Door zijn robuuste lichaamsbouw, actieve levenswijze en zijn aanleg voor overgewicht komen zijn gewrichten onder zware druk te staan. Dit vormt een risico voor zijn gevoelige gewrichten.

Ideal weight formula
Helpt de Labrador Retriever het ideale gewicht te behouden door de combinatie van een hoger eiwitgehalte (30%) met een lager vetgehalte (13%).
