Naast 800 lumen (in de heldere stand) voor krachtige verlichting, past de Varia UT800 automatisch de intensiteit van zijn lichtbundel aan op basis van je snelheid en het profiel van de fietsroute. Hierdoor neemt de helderheid toe als je sneller fietst en bespaar je batterijvermogen als je langzamer gaat fietsen. Het past zich ook aan aan het omgevingslicht en het batterijniveau, zodat je je reis kunt verlengen. Je kunt het licht ook in- en uitschakelen, de helderheid aanpassen en nog veel meer, gewoon door op je Edge meter of de speciale afstandsbediening (niet meegeleverd) te drukken.
Om aan alle situaties aan te passen, biedt de Varia UT800 vijf verschillende helderheidsstanden: hoge helderheid (800 lumen), gemiddelde helderheid (400 lumen), lage helderheid (200 lumen), nachtflits (van 100 tot 300 lumen) en dagflits (meer dan 700 lumen). Bij daglicht is je lamp zichtbaar vanaf meer dan 1,5 km afstand.
