De La Lepre is een rode stille en droge wijn, gevinifieerd uit Dolcetto-druiven en wordt gekenmerkt door het juiste suiker- en alcoholgehalte en een goede vaste zuurgraad. Sinds 1858 heeft het landgoed en de wijnmakerij Fontanafredda een belangrijke rol gespeeld bij de groei en het internationale bewustzijn van Barolo. Daarnaast komt het wijnbedrijf op voor duurzaamheid en maatschappelijke betrokkenheid in de Langhe-regio van Piemonte. De wijngaarden bevinden zich in de beste dorpen van de streekt, Serralunga d’Alba, Barolo en Diano d’Alba, in het hart van de golvende heuvels van de Langhe. Ze wijngaarden bevinden zich op een hoogte tussen de 200 en 400 meter en bodem bezit een hoog gehalte aan bijzondere klei. In totaal bezit het wijnhuis 70 hectare, beplant met de druiven Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto en Moscato. Daarnaast leveren zo’n vijftig wijnboeren uit de omgeving hun beste druiven aan Fontanafredda, die vervolgens worden verwerkt in de handelswijnen van het huis. De gisting gebeurt in roestvrijstalen vaten met veelvuldig overpompen van de most om de extractie van kleur en tannines bij een gecontroleerde temperatuur (25-26 graden) te optimaliseren. Op het einde van de malolactische gisting (eind november) blijft de wijn vier maanden in barriques, gevolgd door een korte periode in roestvrijstalen tanks voor het bottelen. Deze Diano kleur diep robijnrood met violette highlights in het glas. Het fijne, fruitige boeket heeft een zeer aanhoudende, duidelijke ondertoon van bramen en frambozen, gesmolten met tonen van pruimen en zwarte kersen. De smaak is aangenaam droog en de sterke amandelachtige afdronk brengt zijn volheid en fluweelzachte vulling met lichte tannines naar voren, wat zorgt voor een zeer aangename, fijne balans.Shipping Notes

Seems durable - but the scent is not the best

I don't know if I'd call the scent of this "bacon," more like rubber with a hint of bacon. It's very strong. I gave my dog one of the balls & put one in a cabinet where I keep his treats & a few other unrelated odds & ends. I now hold my breath when I open that cabinet b/c good lord, the smell. I'm tempted to just give that one to the dog too, just because it'll air out eventually & then everything else in that cabinet won't smell bad.
My dog feels so-so about it. He'll briefly chase after it & chew on it, but loses interest in it pretty fast. My rather hyperactive cat also plays with it from time to time, as he seems to have more interest in most dog toys than the dog these days, so there's that. (Then again, he thinks a wide variety of random items around the house are loads of fun to toss about, so it's possible his opinion is to be taken with a grain of salt. Between the brief periods of one of these balls being chewed on & clawed at, it's stayed completely intact. I think if you have a dog who simply likes to play fetch or chew on rubber balls in general, this one would stand up to the task. But if you're expecting it to be greeted with the enthusiasm as a bacon grease covered ball might be - I'd adjust your expectations.

My dogs favorite toy so far in two years

I use this with my medium sized dog. These are large for him but that's what I want so I don't ever have to think about them being too small or a swallow hazard. He has been through A LOT OF TOYS in the last couple years, but nothing, NOTHING has he loved as much as these.
His favorite used to be squeaker balls. Then his favorite was crackle balls. But he will gladly ignore both for this one. I don't know if it's the bacon flavor or what, but he go nuts for it.

Bacon? IDK but good stuff either way

What is there to say? they're giant 4" rubber balls from the Chew King brand which is very durable brand. The best part is they don't roll under couches, side boards, etc cause they're just big enough.

Tough Dog Balls. Bright Orange/holes for treats

I used to buy Starmark. But their balls got smaller and tore more easily. The color was green. I couldn’t find it when it was dropped in the grass!! Soooooo, I took a chance on this cuz it had holes in it and was bright orange. It is not scented at all or its bacon scent faded. The ball is for strong chewers. I’m a petsitter and I needed tough balls for my clients dog. Shipped quickly. Good price. Exactly as described
