Pascal Jolivet Attitude Pinot Noir 2024 is bedoeld als een pure, ongekunstelde expressie van Pinot Noir uit de Loire. De Attitude-serie staat binnen het huis voor vrijheid in stijl en herkomst, met wijnen die losstaan van appellatieregels en volledig draaien om druif en drinkplezier. Deze Pinot Noir laat precies dat zien: lichtvoetig, verfijnd en direct herkenbaar als Pinot Noir, zonder houtinvloed of overmatige extractie. Het is een wijn die de filosofie van Pascal Jolivet weerspiegelt, waarbij subtiliteit altijd belangrijker is dan concentratie.

Wijngaarden en regio

De druiven komen uit Frankrijk, uit de Loirevallei, binnen de herkomstbenaming IGP Val de Loire. Ze zijn afkomstig van percelen rond Chemery in Touraine, een gebied dat bekendstaat om zijn kalkrijke bodems met klei en vuursteen. Deze combinatie zorgt voor spanning en frisheid in de wijn. Pascal Jolivet werkt hier met het idee dat een duidelijke bodemexpressie essentieel is voor balans en doordrinkbaarheid. De keuze voor Touraine binnen de Attitude-serie onderstreept de wens om Pinot Noir in een heldere, ongecompliceerde stijl te laten spreken.

Vinificatie en rijping

De vinificatie is volledig gericht op finesse. De druiven worden ontsteeld en ondergaan een maceratie met remontage, waarbij voorzichtig wordt gewerkt om de natuurlijke elegantie van Pinot Noir te behouden. Er wordt bewust niet gestuurd op concentratie. Na de vergisting rijpt de wijn 7 maanden in temperatuurgecontroleerde roestvrijstalen tanks. Het ontbreken van houtopvoeding zorgt ervoor dat het fruitige karakter en de frisse stijl centraal blijven, precies zoals bedoeld binnen de Attitude-filosofie.

Druivensamenstelling

Pinot Noir – Touraine
Deze wijn is gemaakt van 100% Pinot Noir. In deze koele Loire-stijl levert de druif een verfijnde, licht kruidige wijn op met nadruk op fris rood fruit en subtiliteit.

Proefnotities en serveertips

De kleur is helder robijnrood. In de neus komen aroma’s van aardbei en geplette framboos naar voren, gevolgd door een lichte kruidigheid met tonen van witte peper. In de mond is de wijn soepel en verfijnd, met een frisse structuur en zachte tannines. De afdronk is licht kruidig en elegant, zonder zwaarte. Serveer deze wijn bij voorkeur rond 12 °C. Hij past goed bij lichte gerechten zoals wit vlees, salades en verfijnde kruidige bereidingen.

A Book For Audio
Format: Audiobook
The Art of Storytelling from Parents to Professionals is the first book that I can be confident in saying is better as an audio version than it would be in a paper or Kindle form because you can here the verbal inflections and the storytellers can change character, voice much easier than the printed word might. It also captures the listeners attention as the author herself can connect in a lot more personal and intimate way. My concern is while I can understand what the author is getting at, I am not aspiring to be an oral performance style storyteller and there was not enough of a reach out from the world of oral storytelling to the written story. I mean how many of us are going to get up on stage and tell stories? I guess you can take the skills from one realm and use them elsewhere, but the connection may not be made so easily. This was an audiobook that I had a lot of fun with, even if I didn’t quite get what I was hoping for from it.

Great Overview of the Art of Storytelling

I chanced on this as an Audible "freebie" to keep on the list for when I was out of credits. Well, it's excellent, and well worth the listen. And excellent survey of the topic spanning topics of performance (preparing, voice, body language, projection), various aspects of framing (culture, age, ethnicity, audience size), story structure and so on This point is for Hannah B. Harvey, if perchance she reads tese reviews. One point of modern storytelling and writing that is not brought out in your lectures, is that some of the best villain/antagonists are actually the heroes/protagonists of their own stories. This is tangentially alluded to in talking about story viewpoints, but not to the extent that it can be an entirely new story, as Wicked and Maleificent turned The Wizard of Oz and Sleeping Beauty on their heads. And even in the 1960's, many a Bond 007 villain was trying to create what they imagined to be a better world. It's useful to consider in storytelling, as far too many people have forgotten/fail to see the fundamental moral ambiguities of life, and I suspect that goes a long way to explaining the extreme partisanship we see in the world today.

Sadly, I found the tips and the examples in this lecture to be very simplistic and uninspiring.

Format: Audiobook
Storytelling is a great way to get a point across, and most of us digest information through stories. But when it comes time to tell a story, most of us don't have the skills to make the story engaging or impactful. That's where this course on storytelling comes in. You'll get good pointers on vocabulary, body language, tone, along with deeper pointers about how to shape the view of the story and how to refine its characters. It's all very detailed but it's all very interesting and well worth it. This course will help you see how useful storytelling can be in your personal and professional life, especially if you're in a field where you have to do a lot of public speaking.
