After Oil voert je mee naar de Caraïben, meer bepaald naar de sprookjesachtige Colombiaanse stad Cartagena, geboorteplaats van Eric. De temperatuur bedraagt hier het hele jaar door 30 graden. In combinatie met de zoute zeelucht zorgt dat vaak voor een droge huid. Bovendien krijgt de donkere huid van de Colombianen een grijzige tint wanneer ze droog is. Daarom smeren de fiere kustbewoners van de Caraïben zich onder de douche dagelijks in met een speciale huidolie. Het maakt hun huid zacht en soepel. 

Als kind leren Colombianen dit gebruik van hun moeder en ze geven het op hun beurt door aan hun eigen kroost. Toen Eric ons over dit prachtige ritueel vertelde, wilden we het ook delen met jou. Even my boyfriend keeps commenting how much he likes it. It's a usable piece of art! I will comment that the earring holes can be a little tricky since the leaves are turned all different ways. You have to be strategic with how you line up your long/dangle-y earrings with your studs so everybody fits and can be seen. A little tricky. But not a deal breaker - especially when it's so easy on the eye. The other slight negative is that this really isn't the best necklace holder. I would have thought, "No problem!" But it's a bit awkward. Especially if you actually intend to see all your earrings. You'll end up hanging most of your necklaces from the top most branch - but they slide down into the crevice to stay. Then you've got a lot of overlapping. And trickiness to retrieve the exact necklace you want with ease. However, this is still a fabulous earring tree. I can't say enough good things about it. Love the little basket for miscellaneous. Hair bands, lip gloss, etc.

I wasn't sure about purchasing the jewelry stand at first (I had my doubts), but those doubts quickly disappeared upon the arrival/unpackaging of the jewelry stand. I waited a month for the price to go down (I'm just a cheapskate) and it did. It went from $45 or so, down to $25 or so. So, unless its life or death, be patient and buy it when the price is right. OVERALL? In general, I was pleased with the product. It wasn't my dream jewelry stand, but it was worth my money and the wait.
