Het stroomverbruik van LED's is een fractie van dat van gewone gloeilampen. De lens is van zo goed als onbreekbaar PMMA plexiglas. De behuizing is IP-68+ waterdicht uitgevoerd. LED's zijn ongevoelig voor vibraties. Nooit meer de mast in om een lamp te vervangen. LED's hebben een brandduur van 50.000 uur. Bij 20 nachten per vaarseizoen is dat een levensduur van 200 jaar! Wist u overigens dat zowel Nick Moloney (Skandia) als Mike Golding (Ecover) in de Vendee Globe 2004-05 met Lopolight zeilden? Terrible design. With most dog ball launchers, swinging your arm like you're throwing a baseball results in a long arching trajectory of the ball, just as expected.
