This album not only unveiled Waits' raspy tone and poetic soul, but also achieved a devoted following, laying the foundation for an artistic journey of musical storytelling. Tunes like "Ol' '55" and "Martha" remain ageless - perfect for moments of contemplation or sipping on whiskey with an existential introspective twist. 

In 2023, this groundbreaking record celebrated 50 years thus culminating in this special edition vinyl –  a double 180g LP, cut at 45 RPM with half-speed mastering at London's Abbey Road Studios. The gatefold jacket has been meticulously crafted with thicker board and black poly-lined inner sleeves.
