ABOUT THE WEBINAR

No one comes out of a movie talking about what great structure they've just seen. No, what audiences love and remember most about a movie are its scenes. Marlon Brando riding in a cab in On the Waterfront giving his "I could'a been a contender" speech. Meg Ryan's fake orgasm in Katz's Deli in When Harry Met Sally. Or in Super Bad, Jonah Hill professing "I love you" to his friend Michael Cera by touching his nose with a "Boop."

Jack Nicholson says he won't do a movie unless it has at least five amazing moments. This means the scenes in your script have to be as good as its structure. Structure alone does not lead to a great screenplay. If you were to make a list of screenwriters and filmmakers known for their memorable scenes -- Tarantino, P.T. Anderson, Mamet, Woody Allen, Robert Altman, Wes Anderson -- you will find that they violate many of so-called rules of screenwriting: too long, too talky, contain monologues, mix humor with drama or rely on repetition.

Most of these rules are well-intentioned. Their purpose is to make sure that you don't violate key principles that can hurt your story. However, if you know the underlying tenets that these rules are intended to protect, you can break them with style. You can follow principles, not rules.

Jim Mercurio's strength, a former student said, is that he can analyze scenes at the molecular level. He also uses his background as a filmmaker to reveal nitty-gritty scene writing craft to help you create more emotional and memorable scenes as well as establish your unique voice. If you are ready to take a leap in your screenwriting, join Jim for this novel topic in screenwriting craft.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN:

  • How to "break the rules" like Woody Allen, Quentin Tarantino and David Mamet do with their long, talky and rhetoric-filled scenes
  • Discover the essence of surprise and organics reversals
  • The importance of climax and how to illuminate it.
  • How to write visually and make dialogue a last resort to tell your story.
  • How to see scenes through the eyes of actors, cinematographers and directors.
  • How to polish your script so it's ready for A-List actors and directors.
  • New principles like "smashability", extended beats and writing to concept.
  • Advanced topics like metaphor, monologues and the key to subtext.

Necessity
After the disorganization of my working space drove me crazy, I did an overhaul. This was one of the additions that I bought to not only give me more space but also allow for better cable management. I mounted mine under my desk, which let me contain the cable chaos beneath the desk.

Fits great.
Multiple iterations of this dock have wires coming out both the front and back, making it ugly on the desk and no way to hide wires well. Mounting under the desk with this helped a ton, looks way better. Perfect fit.

Heavy-Duty Solution for Large Towers — Rock Solid
This CPU holder is exactly what I needed to reclaim my desktop workspace. I wanted to get the computer off the desk to clear up room for projects, but I didn't want to put it on the floor where it’s susceptible to static and pet hair. This mount keeps the tower tucked away under the desk but still within easy reach. Build Quality & Weight: The unit is impressively well-built with sturdy steel. While the specs state it can hold up to 44 lbs, my current build is closer to 20 lbs, and it handles it with zero flex or wobble. It feels very secure once locked in. Design & Airflow: One of the best benefits I’ve noticed is the noise reduction. Having the case mounted under the desk surface helps shield the sound of the fans, creating a quieter workspace. The open-frame design is also great for airflow and keeps all the ports easily accessible. It’s highly adjustable (width 7.7” to 11.8” and height 20” to 25.8”), so it should fit almost any full-size case. Installation Tip: Installation was straightforward, though I’d recommend measuring your desk thickness first to ensure it can support the weight. If you’re looking for a solid, full-size PC holder to keep your system off the floor, this is a great choice. It feels like a professional-grade mount that will last through several different builds.

Great way to keep your PC off the floor, especially with a standing desk
This mount is a great solution if you want to get your desktop tower off the floor and clean up the space around your desk. The construction feels very solid and once installed it holds the PC securely without any wobble. I like that the frame is adjustable so it can fit different case sizes, and the open design allows for good airflow while still supporting the case well. It is especially helpful if you have a standing desk. Keeping the tower mounted under the desk means all of the cables move with the desk when it raises or lowers, which makes everything much cleaner and easier to manage. Installation takes a little planning to line things up correctly, but once it is mounted it feels very secure. If you want a cleaner workspace and a better setup for a standing desk, this mount works really well.
