Explore the intricate dynamics of modern conflicts with 'Contemporary Violence: Postmodern War in Kosovo and Chechnya'. This groundbreaking book delves deep into the nature of contemporary violence through an exhaustive examination of ongoing conflicts and the narratives that drive them. Drawing upon years of field research and robust interpretive international relations (IR) theory, the text highlights how foundational events shape the military strategies of resistance movements, particularly within the Kosovo Liberation Army and the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria. This scholarly work intertwines a post-positivist analysis with empirical evidence to expose the complex relationship between narratives, identity, and warfare in these regions. It addresses the influences of globalization, regional politics, emotionality, and even visual aspects of contemporary security. By dissecting these elements, the book offers invaluable insights into the motivations behind armed resistance in the Balkans and the North Caucasus, making it essential reading for academicians, area studies experts, and policy-makers.
Perfect for students and scholars of International Relations, Political Studies, and Cultural Studies, 'Contemporary Violence' serves as a notable contribution to contemporary conflict literature. Enhance your understanding of postmodern war strategies and the ongoing impact of historical narratives on modern violence.

Description:
Contemporary Violence: Postmodern War in Kosovo and Chechnya draws on several years of field research, as well as interpretive IR theory and analysis of empirical source material so as to shed light on contemporary violence.
Drawing on interpretive approaches to International Relations, the book argues that founding events and multiple contexts informed the narratives deployed by different members of each movement, illustrating why elements within the Kosovo Liberation Army and the armed forces of the Chechen republic of Ichkeria favoured regional and local strategies of war in the Balkans and the North Caucasus. The book draws on post-positivist analysis and empirical research so as unravel the relationship between narratives, stories and hermeneutic accounts of International Relations; regional politics and trans-local identity; globalisation and visual aspects of contemporary security; criminality and emotionality; which together illustrate the dynamics within the armed resistance movements in Kosovo and the North Caucasus and the road to war in 1999.
The book is a major addition to a small field of genuinely readable studies of IR theory. The book will be of interest to academics, researchers, students, area studies experts and policy-makers seeking to understand the formation of the armed resistance movements in Kosovo and Chechnya. Amongst other things, the book will be of interest to students and scholars of International Relations, Political Studies, Area Studies, as well as those within Cultural and Historical and Sociological Studies. -- .

New Favorite Desk Chair
This chair is exactly what I was looking for! It is simple to put together, very sturdy and very comfortable. I typically tend to sit criss cross while at my desk and I can do that very comfortably with it. Im a bigger girlie so a chair that can hold weight or deal with me shifting positions was very important to me.

Comfortable chair
Color: Cream, Size: PU Leather(No Wheels)
Ordered this chair for my daughter for Christmas. It's a great chair. It's very comfortable. She wishes it had wheels. I didn't see a way to add wheels to this base, either. Still a good chair. You have to make sure where you put it you can spin to get out of it. Pushing it back and forth on carpet doesn't work well.

Great Office Chair
I purchased this chair to replace the old one in my son's room. I really like the look and style of this chair. It was easy for me to assemble and the riser functions really good and the stability of the base is very good. I like the wide design as it has more back support and seat support.

Comfortable, Stylish, and Great for Casual Seating
The OLIXIS Criss Cross Legged Chair is a really nice option if you prefer sitting cross-legged or want a wider, more relaxed seating style compared to a traditional office chair. The armless design and wide seat make it easy to shift positions throughout the day without feeling restricted.
Comfort-wise, the padding is decent and supportive for short to moderate sitting sessions. The adjustable height and swivel function work smoothly, and it’s easy to find a comfortable position whether you’re working at a desk, doing makeup, or just using it casually in a bedroom or home office setup.
The minimalist look is also a plus—it blends well with modern decor and doesn’t take up as much visual space as bulky office chairs. Assembly was fairly straightforward and didn’t take long.
One thing to note is that since it has no wheels, it’s not ideal if you need to move around your workspace frequently. Also, while it’s comfortable, it may not be the best choice for long, full workdays compared to a high-back ergonomic chair with more lumbar support.
Overall, this is a stylish and functional chair that works great for light office use, studying, or casual seating—especially if you like the criss-cross sitting position.

Wow Great Deal!
Color: Black
I have been using this chair for a month now and I am honestly impressed for the price I paid. I work from home so am using this chair 24/7. I had no issues with assembling it myself as a 35 year old female. Instructions were simple to follow and took me maybe 30 minutes to put together. Its sturdy and comfortable. I appreciate the padded arms and the seat bottom is also a nice thick cushion. Added bonus for the head rest and that it is adjustable. Definitely recommend.
