A large (7' plus) abstract oil on canvas by American artist and aeronautical pioneer, Vera Simons, probably painted in the 1970s.  Black and gold rings are imposed above a cloudscape that recalls the artist's experience with aerial photography.  The shimmering yellow and white foreshadow the use of metallic paints in Simons' later work.

VERA HABRECHT SIMONS was a German-born American artist and aeronaut.  She first studied art formally in Minneapolis.  In 1949 she co-founded Winzen Research, a company specializing in the manufacture of plastic balloons, with her then husband, Otto Winzen, an aeronautical engineer.  Serving as its vice-president and chief of production, Simons established herself as the finest plastic balloon builder in the world.  She was a central figure in planning and executing a series of manned research flights for the military in the 1950s.  After selling her interest in the company at the end of the decade, Simons enrolled in the Corcoran Art School in Washington.  By the late 1960s her work was becoming internationally recognized.  Her kinetic art pieces—many involving balloon elements—collages, and oils were shown in galleries around the world and featured in group shows alongside her contemporaries, Bruce Nauman, Richard Serra, Andy Warhol and Christo.  In the 1970s and '80s Simons coordinated a series of artistic projects that married balloon design with scientific research.  She spent the final decades of her life in Austin, TX.

Defective Item
Color: Black, Color: Black
The door broke off immediately out of the package and the screws are stripped so they can’t be tightened into place. I might superglue it because I don’t want to go through the hassle of returning it and it’s the only way they’d offer even a partial refund for a defective product when I asked.

Perfect jewelry organizer
Size: Large, Color: Grey, Size: Large, Color: Grey
This jewelry box is excellent and very convenient. It is made of sturdy material, which ensures its durability. It is very useful for storing all kinds of jewelry. It features space for 4 watches, at least 8 necklaces or bracelets, ample room for rings, and—one of the things I liked most—you can store your earrings without worrying about them falling out. The clasp is also very good.

Clean, classic jewelry box
Size: Large, Color: Apricot
This is the perfect size to go on my dresser. I used to have a tall jewelry chest that really just collected a bunch of things that I didn't really need. I wanted to downsize and just keep the pieces that are special to me and those that I wear often. This is a beautiful, simple box with enough storage for what I need. It has a clean, classic look and is built to last. There is a lock on the front, however, I have not used it so I can't speak to that. Overall, a great value and great piece to store jewelry.

Good Gift for a wife
Size: Large, Color: Apricot
I was looking for an exciting and yet affordable gift for my wife, and I bought this, and it did the job by far. It has a clean design that gives it a high-end brand look, and it has plenty of pockets for all kinds of jewelry. The quality looks awesome, too.
