Sizes available: #1 (Trade Gallon)

Basics: zones 3-7, 24-48" x 1-3', sun to part shade, light purple blooms in late summer to early fall over large heart-shaped leaves, very adaptable to dry woodland.

Common names: Big Leaf Aster, Large-leaf Wood-aster

Family: Asteraceae

Origin/Distribution: Quebec to Minnesota and south to northern Georgia and Tennessee, native to Maine

Habitat: Thickets, clearings, open woods, woods edge

More: This woodland aster is a strong grower and will spread by seed and rhizome. I have it growing under mature oaks in morning sun and then high, light shade later in the day and it is keeping up with the variegated Solomon's Seal. This is an excellent ground cover in dappled shade and is also effective for holding banks and slopes. The flowers are pretty little daisies, but can be sparse, and E. macrophylla is usually grown in an ornamental garden for its large leaves. These leaves diminish and disappear after the stems flower in the fall. However, all of those rhizomes are holding the ground and ready to flush attractive new growth, leafing out quickly in the spring. It is one of the larval hosts for the Pearl Crescent, Phyciodes tharos, and Northern Crescent, Phyciodes cocyta and both of these butterflies are native to Maine. Has been used medicinally. Leaves and roots are edible.

Almost good enough
Color: E-Navy+Purple
My dog chewy can rip through anything, even these. I do love the toys they’re great. They’re made with coconut on the inside, but could somebody please!, make a chew toy worthy of my dogs teeth, cause this ain’t it. But it is the strongest so far . I would recommend it. My doodle chewy short for Chewbacca is insane about chewing.

Could be more durable.
Color: A-Navy
It’s not as durable as I’d hoped. I’ve had to mend it. It’s cute, though, and my dog likes it. He’s an Aussie, so not great bite strength.

Cute but disappointing
Color: C-Navy+Oak, Color: C-Navy+Oak
One of my dogs love these however they are far from indestructible. Two days after giving the teddy to him, the tail of the teddy is off and there is a rip by one of the arms. They are very cute teddies but not for heavy chewers as they will only last a few days.

Nothing is indestructible
Color: D-Purple
Adorable. Looks just like the photo. My 15# JRT loves it! however the tail and one ear were gone in a matter of minutes. It’s his toy so I’m just monitoring his time with it as it’s his favorite 😍

Our Pit Bull’s Favorite Toy!
Color: A-Navy, Color: A-Navy
We absolutely love this MAXBECK bear toy! We’ve ordered it 4 times over the last 8 months because our senior pit bull is obsessed with his “babies.” He always has one close to him and even cuddles with them. The material is very sturdy and holds up amazingly well even with rough play. My dog’s favorite part is the squeaker. What I love most is that even after he finally tears into it, the rope built inside becomes a whole second toy for him and keeps the fun going. If you have a heavy chewer who destroys toys quickly, this one is definitely worth trying!
