The wood is an overall peachy brown color with warm undertones of red and yellow. There are lines of black spalting that highlight and sometimes cross cut the grain. Alder Block Ald52 2.6" x 2.7" x 7.9" 1 lbs. Here's a moderately spalted spindle of Red Alder. The wood is an overall peachy-brown color with warm undertones of red and yellow. There are lines of black spalting that highlight and sometimes cross-cut the grain. This one has very pretty white bits of sapwood swirled into the heartwood. Alder tends to have a lot of color variation throughout, so please browse the photos to get a sense of this particular piece's character. This is moderately spalted piece of Red Alder. To achieve this degree of spalting, the wood does give up a bit of density and strength. Turning this block to achieve a good finish without tearout will require sharp tools and a light touch. This piece also has three long, open cracks. You'll need to fill these with CA glue or epoxy prior to turning. Fully air-dried to 10-12% moisture content. About the Tree This Red Alder tree lived a long and healthy life on San Juan Island, Washington. It died naturally and toppled over, probably during one of the wind storms which frequently sweep across the island. It rested on the ground in the forest for a time, allowing the local mushrooms to colonize and spalt the wood. Spalting is highly variable across the tree. Not all pieces have spalting, but quite a few have black-line and zone spalting that enhance this already-beautiful wood. You'll enjoy the projects you create from this wood! |

This is more like a rigid soft case
I wanted a keyboard and mouse to keep around and a case to keep it in while traveling. The Logitech MK955 Signature Slim Wireless Keyboard and Mouse seemed like a good choice. I saw that this case was available thought it would be a good idea to protect the keyboard and mouse. So far so good.

Beware of the off-gassing smell.
As much as I like the durable case, the ONLY complaint I have is the off-gassing. The case works great and I have no problems with it. But the smell is something terrible. My entire travel case smells horrible after coming back from a client just because this case has been transported within it. I had my coat on top of it one day and then my coat stunk. I thought if I aired it outside for a bit it would clear it up. When I take it back inside and use it again, it continues to smell. It is so offensive that I am ordering something from another company. I CANNOT say it smells similar to cigarette smoke, but can say that it smells like it has been in a smoker's home for the last 30 years and you just can't get the smell out, no matter what I do. And I tried to spray it with fresheners etc. Nothing worked. I can't use it because of this. I rated as a 2 only because of the smell. As mentioned earlier, the case itself is perfect and performs as it should.

Sturdy case large enough for most keyboards, with space for a mouse.
This is a great case that will protect most keyboards very well. My keyboard and mouse set is from Jelly Comb, and they fit well. It’s very spacious inside. In fact, my keyboard is thinner than what this case is designed for, so I had to pad the keyboard so it won’t move around too much, but I don’t consider this a bad thing. Now I know that if I get a larger keyboard, I can still use the same case. I also like the way it’s designed for a mouse. There are two pouches on top that indent into the case, so you can easily fit a mouse or cables in there and they won’t protrude too much. This case is perfect, and I can’t recommend it enough.
