Description:
A father presents as an English gentleman and war hero to his wife and subsequent children who catch up with the truth of the impoverished Welsh beginnings only after his death. His daughter ponders this singular life in the context of a changing Britain in the 20th century.
Major Bill Probert emerged from the Second World War a decorated war hero, a gifted linguist in the Intelligence Corps. He met the love of his life, a beautiful Oxford graduate, when they were both posted to the Allied Control Commission occupying Vienna in 1945. He was a cultured and ambitious Englishman, with no living family of his own.
After a successful international business career, Bill retires at 59, only to reinvent himself first as a fly fisherman and farmer in Wales, and then - for the last decade of his life - as a resident of the Bearn, lover of the Pyrenees and everything French.
Four months after he was buried in St Faust de Haut a letter arrives for him, announcing that his nephew Denzil, from Brecon in Wales, has finally found him, and is coming to visit. Bill's wife and children were about to learn that Bill began life as Roy, in an impoverished Welsh mining family in the Rhondda. His mother and three siblings were alive and well when his children were born.
Why did Roy decide to become Bill and erase Wales and his family? Thirty years after his death it was time to unearth his many secrets. This is the story of a daughter's hunt for her perplexing and unpredictable father.

Nice room divider
Product as described although it took me some time to assemble it. Sturdy, I used it to create a small space for myself as office to work from home in the living room. So that I no longer need to worry about my background when I am in zoom call when working remotely.

Not easy to put together
It worked sort of. It was not easy to put together and has lots of gaps, but it did add a little division in the room.

Great shelves
Size: 16.5 Inch, Color: Rustic Brown
I loved these for my room, they were easy to install and super versatile, I love how easy it was to assemble them and how functional they became once I was done setting them up. They fit perfectly next to each other and I love how my room looks nice since I don't like relying on bookshelves or anything of that category and rather have wall shelves. They are really stable and I love how they look, they are also really easy to clean since I spilled some baby powder from my last waxing session and they clean up pretty well. Overall, just know that these shelves are super stable, durable and versatile, I love how many things can fit on it if you know how to organize or don't have much stuff to put on them; it's all up to you and what you need them for, so I recommend them 10/10!

Great shelves! Had for years!
Size: 16.5 Inch, Color: Rustic Brown, Size: 16.5 Inch, Color: Rustic Brown
I love these shelves, I’ve had them set up both ways, as a floating shelf and the other way where you get some side support. I’ve had them for years, moved with them, and they continue to work great. I’ve had a lot on them too weight wise (I love books) and they don’t cave in the middle. Great shelves and easy to assemble (I’m a newbie with a drill). Great value for the money, durability is great, adjustable, and great for what you get!

Budget-Friendly with a Rustic Charm - WOPITUES Wood Floating Shelves Set of 6
Size: 16.5 Inch, Color: Rustic Brown
The WOPITUES Wood Floating Shelves Set of 6 is an appealing option for those looking to add a touch of rustic charm to their home without spending a fortune. This set of six shelves offers great versatility and functionality, ideal for displaying a variety of items such as books, plants, and decorative pieces, enhancing any wall decor with a farmhouse vibe.
Upon installation, which is straightforward with the included mounting hardware, these shelves provide a neat and organized look. The ability to arrange them in various configurations allows for creative freedom in decorating, making it easy to personalize your space. The overall capacity and sturdiness of the shelves are commendable, holding up well under the weight of typical decor items.
However, while the shelves perform well from a distance, a closer inspection reveals that the materials look somewhat cheap. The wood finish, although attractive from afar, does not hold up to close scrutiny, with the texture and detailing lacking the quality one might expect from more expensive shelving. This aspect might be a downside for those who prefer more authentic, high-quality woodwork.
In conclusion, the WOPITUES Wood Floating Shelves are a solid choice for anyone on a budget looking to enhance their home decor. They offer good functionality and aesthetic appeal at a distance, though they may not satisfy those looking for premium material quality. For the price, they are a worthy consideration for casual use and decorative purposes.
