A stunning Japanese-made Burny Les Paul Custom finished in a beautiful Cherry Sunburst. Produced in 1991, this guitar captures everything that made Japanese-built Burny instruments so highly regarded amongst players and collectors alike. Unfortunately, no serial number is present, so we have used the pots to determine the exact year of manufacture. However, the construction, hardware, pickups and overall specification are all consistent with an authentic 1991 Japanese-built example.

This guitar features the desirable lightning bolt headstock inlay, Dark Stained Rosewood fretboard, gold hardware and a pair of Burny VH-1 humbuckers. The VH-1 pickups are particularly sought after, delivering warm, articulate vintage-inspired tones with excellent clarity and plenty of character.

Condition is very good overall and the guitar presents beautifully. It is important to note however that the gold hardware shows significant ageing throughout. There is extensive tarnishing, oxidation and pitting to the pickup covers, bridge, tailpiece, pickup surrounds, screws and tuning machines, giving the guitar a genuine vintage appearance. Aside from the hardware ageing, there are light scratches, minor dings and signs of use consistent with a well-cared-for instrument of this age. The frets remain in very good condition with plenty of life remaining, and the guitar plays exceptionally well throughout the neck.

The electronics appear original, including the VH-1 pickups and Japanese potentiometers. The control cavity and pickup routings are pictured for reference.

Weighing in at a substantial 9lb 10.5oz, this guitar delivers the sustain, resonance and authority you would expect from a quality Les Paul Custom.

Freshly checked over in our workshop, fitted with new strings, set up and playing beautifully throughout the neck.
