It prevents the grit from being thrown off be centrifugal forces or washed away by water which speeds up the process, conserves grit and helps create a more efficient slurry. MJR Tumblers Grit Enhancer is only for use in the first stages and should be rinsed off thoroughly after use, as it will prevent polishing in the final stage.
How it works
* Holds grit in place: Grit Enhancer helps secure the abrasive to the surface of the stone, ensuring it stays in contact and cuts more effectively.
* Forms a faster slurry: It helps to quickly create a thick, workable slurry that speeds up material removal.
* Saves grit, time and $ money: By keeping the grit from being wasted, it reduces abrasive consumption and shortens processing times.
* Is water-soluble: The compound is designed to wash off easily with water and once the grinding stages are complete.
Usage instructions
* For Tumbling: Add a recommended ratio of grit and Grit Enhancer to the tumbler to keep the grit in suspension and preventing it from settling at the bottom of your barrel.
* For Lapping: Brush water onto the lap plate, sprinkle Grit Enhancer then add grit and mix.
* For Sphere cutting: Make a paste with grit, water, and Grit Enhancer, then brush it onto the sphere and sphere cutters.
Important considerations
* Do not use with polish: Grit Enhancer should be reserved for grinding steps only, as it will interfere with the polishing stage.
* Follow recommended ratios: Use about 4 teaspoons of Grit Enhancer per pound of grit, so a little goes a long ways.
MJR Tumblers Grit Enhancer can also be used to thicken slurry for your softer stones like obsidian, apache tears, sodalite, fluorite, and apatite.
