The estate's unique terroir features sharp relief despite modest altitude, with thick quaternary gravel layers covering a predominantly clay sub-soil topped by a thin layer of lacustrine clay. Le C de Calon Ségur, the estate's third wine, embodies the heart symbolized on every bottle—a nod to the Marquis de Ségur's legendary love for this property. Crafted primarily from young vines in a balanced blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine undergoes meticulous hand harvesting, mechanical and manual sorting, followed by temperature-controlled fermentation in tronconical stainless-steel tanks. After 16 months aging in three-year-old barrels, it delivers immediate enjoyment with bright freshness and vibrant fruitiness, while maintaining the distinctive character that has made this Third Growth estate legendary since medieval times.
