Elsabe is a South African Artist and she has been awarded as a Top 25 Finalist in the ARTi Gallery Art Competition 2023!
About this piece:
I often think that the night if more alive and more richly-coloured than the day. Starry Night inspired me to create a female torso with soft and sensual curves. The Master's vivid colours were caught up in the glazing. From the torso, starry night flows onto canvas, expressing the light shines onto the Magalies mountains and Hartbeespoort dam.
About the Artist:
Elsabe Pienaar describes her paintings as figurative with an abstract element, though her portfolio boasts a vast collection of creative works and projects. After completing her studies, she took a position with the then Transvaal Museum service and not only worked on museum exhibitions but collaborated on various historical restoration projects. She sites her most challenging project as the restoration of The Palace of Justice in Church Square in Pretoria, owing to the size of the building and sheer historic significance that left a lasting impression on her.
A Herbert Baker House, Northwards House in Parktown is another project she most cherishes among her accomplishments.
She is currently involved in the restoration of The Old Presidency in Bloemfontein where the reconditioning of an Ombre painting technique is just one element she is tasked with.
During COVID-19 she started working with pottery, adding another exciting medium to her skill set and resulting in a refined piece like “Armoire Dreams” that combines ceramic with brass.
She currently offers interior design services to the discerning client in Hartbeespoort Dam where she resides, stating that her love for interiors and wallpaper “has just always been there”. For the last 15 years, she has been teaching art classes for adults and children, honouring her core belief in her obligation to share the knowledge she possesses.
