Help Make Senior Dogs Comfortable While They Wait to Be Adopted

Senior dogs often have it the hardest at shelters,  being overlooked for younger dogs and they might be in a shelter for longer than anticipated taking its toll on the dog's body. Many senior pets need more warmth, special food and treats that are softer and easier to chew, and more vitamin assistance. Shelters may also have trouble supplying vitamins and supplements that help with joint issues that are needed by older fur babies.

With the purchase of one of these packages, you can improve a senior dog's life and make their stay at a shelter, rescue or foster home as comfortable and as restful as possible until they find their fur-ever home!

Impact:

  • Teddy: A kind citizen found Teddy wandering the streets. Teddy was considered lucky; he had a microchip, but his previous family never reclaimed him, and he was left waiting at the vet. He is such a blessing at the rescue and we all love his kind and quirky personality. He is always hanging out with his other senior dog pals and relaxing in the barn while getting attention from volunteers. At Horse and Hound Rescue, Teddy is one of 50 senior dogs who call this rescue home. We are incredibly grateful for the generous donations. Because of these donations, Teddy doesn’t have to worry about where his next meal is coming from. He gets to spend his golden years belly-upped to a bowl of the good stuff, surrounded by friends and 50 acres of Oklahoma sunshine. From Teddy and all of us at Horse and Hound, thank you for helping us provide a soft landing, a full belly, and a happy life for the seniors who deserve it most.

  • Nine-year-old Pinkie arrived at Cimarron Valley Humane Society in pain with matted and missing fur, hematoma on her ear, and very depressed. She settled into a foster home with soft treats, a cozy blanket, and nutritious food- thanks to your donations. She faced another trial that resulted in her losing one eye, but she remains sweet and ready to find someone to love.
  • Tucker is a ten-year-old Chihuahua who arrived at a shelter after his owner passed away. He was examined and received preventative care against harmful parasites, thanks to your support. His sweet and friendly demeanor quickly won the heart of an adopter looking for a senior dog.
  • Onyx is a older english bulldog who doesn't have the best teeth. It is assumed there was a lot of bad breeding, which resulted in lots of health problems including issues with his teeth. Onyx enjoys the senior soft chews and now his breath smells great thanks to the special treats sent.
  • Molly is a senior dog who lost her owner and home and needed a place to live out her golden years. Horse and Hound Rescue Foundation took her in, and she is living her best life thanks in part to your donations. Molly has extra pep in her step thank to the nutritious donated food. She and her caretakers are grateful for the support.
  • Rascal arrived at Horse and Hound Rescue Foundation after his dad passed away. He fit in so well with the other senior dogs that he joined the resident pack. He now spends his days soaking up the sun and devouring tasty treats. Your donations are enhancing his golden years, so thank you!
  • Erica is a senior shelter dog who is patiently waiting for a forever home. While she waits, she is being showered with love by staff and volunteers and takes comfort in the warm blankets and soft treats that your donations helped provide. Thank you for showing senior shelter dogs some love!
  • Steve arrived at Horse and Hound Rescue Foundation after his owner passed away. He was struggling to get around due to arthritis and a few extra pounds. Thanks to your support, he is thriving and able to move like a young dog again and do his favorite activity with ease- fetch.
  • Alicia was taken out of a bad home situation and brought to Furry Friends Animal Rescue where she will spend the rest of her days being spoiled. She is one of the sanctuary residents who enjoys the soft blankets and tasty treats, your donations helped provide. Thank you for your support!
  • Ginger was struggling to get around due to painful arthritis. Thanks to your donations, she can now move with ease and continue her work in classrooms teaching children about pet care and kindness to animals. Your donations are changing lives.
  • Rita is a hunting dog that was abandoned in a landfill area, most likely because she was older and was sick, and could not hunt anymore. Sweet Rita was lucky enough to be found during an outreach where she was found to be emaciated. She was also diagnosed with leishmania. After she was rescued, she was put in a recovery room, in an old armchair and covered with a blanket, where she was finally able to relax and feel safe. She is now a healthy old lady looking for a forever home, which she really deserves!
  • Scout: This gentle giant is living his best life at Horse and Hound Rescue Foundation. Thanks to your donations, he is getting the soft food he needs and loves.  His caretakers shared, "Scout’s personal favorite? The soft, savory Merrick Lil’ Plates! He dives into those like a puppy every time, and it’s a joy to watch."

  • Freya: The sweet senior arrived at a Texas animal rescue with multiple age-related issues, including arthritis. She was limping on her front leg but would still hobble over to greet you. Thanks to your donations, Freya was able to finally get the support and medicine she needed.
  • Happy: This senior rescue dog was struggling getting around due to severe arthritis. Your donations are helping Happy get the supplement and care he needs to walk around without pain. Thank you!

  • Carl:

He is a senior bully mix who was rescued from Florida after Hurricane Helene. He ate very little when he arrived, and he seemed to have trouble walking around. He was skinny and heartworm positive.

The poor fella is slowly starting to feel better thanks in part to your donation of pain medication and supplements for his achy joints and inflamed gums.

  • Kali: This senior Chihuahua was abandoned by her family and found living in a garage. She was taken in by a rescue who provided her with nutritious food and a soft bed, thanks to your donations. Kali is resting comfortably while she waits for a forever home.
  • Lucy: Brenda and her senior pup, Lucy had their world rocked when their home was hit by a tornado. Thankfully, they were both unharmed but they are awaiting fixes to their home, which has not been easily solved. Brenda was super thankful she could bring Lucy to the Pet Pantry that Houston Humane supports. Thanks to support from people like you, Lucky received toys, treats, food and other enrichment care that helps Brenda out as she saves to rebuild their home.
  • Sally, our senior dog friend, inspecting some of the goodies sent to the Idaho Humane Society.
  • Miracle is one of many dogs who received goodies from a Benefit Buy, thanks to the kindness of people like you.

Feels cheap, not good for old eyes.
The watch seemed to work good. But it felt cheap, and I was looking for something with better illumination and easier to read. I ended up returning it.

Takes a Licking and Keeps on Ticking
Color: Green/Black
I love this watch despite the fact that it is really a toy. I love the look of the watch, I love how lite the weight of the watch is on my wrist, and it really does keep good time if you manage the solar charge properly. Other than looking cool on your wrist, this watch has absolutely no functions other than time keeping. The black plastic bezel is molded into the case and does not turn, so don't plan on using that. The watch has no light, the dial numbers are non-luminous and the hands are very limited in terms of luminosity. No buttons. All you can do is adjust the time and date by pulling out what used to be a winding stem in the good old days. The small tag on the strap with Geographic coordinates shown on it indicate the location of the old Timex manufacturing facility (SW of Waterbury, CT). I have a nice ledge at my bedroom window and it gets good western sun for a good part of the day regardless of the time of year. On this ledge you will find a half dozen solar powered watches (mostly Casio) properly aligned to maximize the charge they may receive each day. Note that the description for this Timex watch specifically states that a lightbulb won't charge this watch. You need direct sunlight for several hours if you want to get more than a 3-week charge into this watch. So, I'll leave you with a couple of tips, my friends; 1.) If you are looking for a first watch to give your outdoorsy oriented Son or Daughter, then give them this one. Why? Because it is cool looking, fairly well built, and it actually works, 2.) After you receive your Timex watch, be sure to keep the display mount it is packaged with. It makes a great fixture to mount your watch on for charging and allows you to maximize the position of the solar cells on the dial so that you can optimize charging time. Have Fun! Jimmy

Excellent value, flawless performance for well over a year and no signs of quitting.
Color: Green/Black
Excellent value, had this for well over a year and it still keeps perfect time, still water resistant. No worries about having to change batteries. Owned a fancy expensive (battery) watch once and the dept. store repair intentionally sabotaged the watch in the hopes I would purchase another from them. Yeah, good luck with that, lost my business forever. This is the 21st century, cell phones are the new time pieces, but solar is totally reliable and Timex makes it happen. Holds a charge for many months, although I prop it in a bright window for a few days every few months or so just to make sure the cells are always fully charged, although it's probably unnecessary, just being over cautious. I haven't actually experienced this watch ever running out of power even after months of use. Damn impressive, as it should be.

Good value for solar watch
Color: Black/Orange
Nice watch! It is plastic like but it is solar. No indiglo button only a little luminous on the hands so you don't want to wear it in tje dark and expect to check the time. 45mm case is good size for my wrist and the band works good also, Not too long not too short. Overall a good watch with no problems
