One of the strengths they have is their ability to adjust their sound as they've gone along. Whilst their debut My Love Is Cool and second album Visions of a Life felt more aligned to grunge and alt-rock, their third album Blue Weekend took a step into a poppier and more confident direction. It felt like the album that might propel them to headline Glastonbury, but the momentum didn't quite propel them up that quickly. With The Clearing, however, it feels like their chance might be just around the corner. When they tour the songs from this album over the coming months and they etch into the hearts of their adoring fans, their stock is going to skyrocket. The first single 'Bloom Baby Bloom' could be read as self referential because they're operating on another level to anything they've ever managed before and they know it.
