Description:

What is slavery? It seems a simple enough question. Despite the long history of the institution and its widespread use around the globe, many people still largely associate slavery, outside of the biblical references in the Old Testament, to the enslavement of Africans in America, particularly the United States. Slavery proved to be essential to the creation of the young nation™s agricultural and industrial economies and profoundly shaped its political and cultural landscapes, even until today. What Is Slavery? focuses on the experience of enslaved black people in the United States from its early colonial period to the dawn of that destructive war that was as much about slavery as anything else. The book begins with a survey of slavery across time and place, from the ancient world to the beginning of the Atlantic slave trade and then describes the commerce in black laborers that ushered in market globalization and brought more than 12 million Africans to the Americas, before finally examining slavery in law and practice. For those who are looking for a concise and comprehensive treatment of such topics as slave labor, culture, resistance, family and gender relations, the domestic slave trade, the regionalization of the institution in the expanding southern and southwestern frontiers, and escalating abolitionist and proslavery advocacies, this book will be essential reading.

Works Well, Easy to Clean, Just Watch Stove Temp
Color: Linen Gray
I bought this set to replace a stainless steel set I have after the nickel in the stainless steel cookware starting leeching into my food and causing some pretty severe reactions. I made sure to read the instructions that came with this ceramic-coated cookware before use, and made a note to not heat it on high - I have cast iron for that anyway. I appreciate how light weight this cookware is, and how easy it is to clean with soap and water - I don't put my cookware in the dishwasher. So far it appears to work well making sauces, heating vegetables, cooking pasta, but I do have to plan a little extra time to get water to boil, of course. One thought for the designers - it would be helpful if the lids fit more than 1 pot. It would be nice, for instance, for the large pot lid to fit the large skillet for sauces that need to simmer and/or reduce for a while. Overall, this cookware is an extremely good value and I'd purchase it again.

Great value, well made, but get the stainless ones for max performance on induction.
Color: Ivory
Good quality but they don't heat up as fast as the stainless steel amazon basics cookware i also have, my induction stove can boil water in less than 2 minutes with stainless, but the ceramic takes much longer, but still fast. I'm not sure of how much safer the ceramic is vs teflon pans, as ceramic is not a standardized thing. Overall i'm pleased and great value for the money

Looks good and the non-stick is great.
Color: Ivory
I really like the look of this cookware. The non-stick is great and cleanup is easy. I do notice a few scrapes in the pans. I am very careful about the utensils I am use on them so not sure what happened. But it is not too bad and not a game changer. I would like lids for all the pans so I hope those are available for purchase. Overall I am pleased.

Great quality and value
Color: Linen Gray, Color: Linen Gray
I’ve been using the Amazon Basics ceramic nonstick set regularly, and it performs really well. Food cooks evenly and doesn’t stick, and cleanup is quick. The handles stay cool, and everything feels sturdy. Looks luxe. Color looks great! For the price, it’s a solid, reliable set.
