Alder Block Ald43 2.6" x 2.7" x 7.9" 0.9 lbs. This is an eye-catching spindle of spalted Red Alder. The wood is an overall peachy-brown color with warm undertones of red and yellow. There are white flecks scattered throughout, almost in a wormy texture -- these may be bits of sapwood mixed into the heartwood. It's a striking figure! Alder tends to have a lot of color variation throughout, so please browse the photos to get a sense of this particular piece's character. This is moderately spalted Red Alder. To achieve this beautiful degree of spalting, the wood does give up a little bit of density and strength. Turning this block to achieve a good finish without tearout will require sharp tools and a light touch. Fully air-dried to ~10% moisture content. This piece has a bark edge which is loosely attached and partially broken off. Secure with CA glue if you wish to keep the bark. About the Tree This Red Alder tree lived a long and healthy life on San Juan Island, Washington. It died naturally and toppled over, probably during one of the wind storms which frequently sweep across the island. It rested on the ground in the forest for a time, allowing the local mushrooms to colonize and spalt the wood. Spalting is highly variable across the tree. Not all pieces have spalting, but quite a few have black-line and zone spalting that enhance this already-beautiful wood. You'll enjoy the projects you create from this wood! |

Last about a year ishhh

Plastic mold isn’t as straight as it should be, the clips don’t line up like oem. Product is wiggly. Had on car for over half a year.
Hasn’t faded. Just wish the fitment was better.
Update: the grill lasted about 1 1/2 years, it began to fade, and I had a slat crack, no evidence of impact. I ended up buying a better made product and replaced this grill.

Fits a 2001 330!

The grill in my old 2001 330 broke off and I was really happy to find a nice looking replacement at an inexpensive cost. The black looks really sleek on it and has breathed some new life into it. Next up is to replace the emblem.

Direct Fit and good quality

For anyone that has owned an E46 knows that even the stock kidney grills are brittle plastic. This aftermarket is about the same quality as stock. It is a direct fit and has the clips where they are supposed to be to keep them in place. The look is also pretty nice. This one is all black and actually looks nice on my black E46. I would recommend especially for the price and shipping was fast.
