Do I need to be a native Japanese speaker?
No, the course is designed for someone who has studied to learn the language, although if you are not a native speaker then studying GCSE Japanese first is beneficial.

Is there a speaking exam?
No, A Level Japanese focuses on listening, reading and writing.

How does the listening examination work?
Candidates are provided with their own MP3 player onto which the listening files have been downloaded; you will need to provide your own noise cancelling headphones or earphones which has a jack connector.

Do I need to bring copies of my research or the set texts to the exams?
No, these are closed book exams, although extracts from the set texts may be given in the exams.

Am I allowed to use a dictionary in the exams?
No, dictionaries are not allowed for any of the exams.
