Upgrade your fleet to crystal-clear digital communication with this compact, lightweight, and highly affordable DMR radio.
The Hytera BD502i Digital Two-Way Radio is the perfect entry-point into professional digital (DMR) technology. Engineered for schools, retail environments, hospitality, and event management, the BD502i delivers enhanced audio clarity and extended coverage in an incredibly compact package that weighs only 8 ounces.
This radio features dual-mode operation with an auto-detect function, allowing it to seamlessly receive and respond to calls from your existing legacy analog radios as well as modern digital ones on the same channel. This makes the BD502i the ideal solution for fleet managers who want to slowly migrate to a digital network at their own pace without replacing all their analog radios overnight.
Built for daily professional use, the BD502i features a rugged MIL-STD-810G construction to survive drops and impacts, alongside an IP54 rating for protection against dust and splashing water. Available in both UHF and VHF models, it provides heavy-duty performance and up to 16 hours of digital battery life at a highly accessible price point.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the Hytera BD502i work with my older analog radios?
Yes. The BD502i features dual-mode operation and an auto-detect function, meaning it can automatically receive and transmit to both legacy analog radios and modern digital (DMR) radios on the same channel.
What is the difference between the Hytera BD502i and the BD552i?
The primary difference is the physical interface. The BD502i is a screenless radio designed for simple, push-to-talk operation. The BD552i features a single-line display and a partial keypad to view caller ID and navigate channels.
Does the Hytera BD502i require an FCC license?
Yes. Because this is a high-powered professional two-way radio (4 Watts UHF / 5 Watts VHF), it requires an FCC business radio frequency license to operate legally in the United States.
Is the Hytera BD502i waterproof?
The BD502i has an IP54 rating. This means it is highly protected against dust and can withstand splashing water from any direction, making it suitable for outdoor use in light rain, but it is not designed to be submerged underwater.
