Know The Squid In Your Plates
In Singapore, there are generally two types of squid sources. One is from Malaysia, known for its fresh, sweet flavor and often labeled as high quality. The other is from Indonesia, which you need to be cautious about. Indonesian squid is abundant, but the preparation process can be concerning. These squids are often soaked in chemicals like lye water (alkaline) to neutralize bad smells from being not fresh or low quality.
Why Is This Information Important?
We believe in keeping our customers informed. Shiok BBQ uses high-quality squid from Malaysia for our marinated products. Not just that, we are the supplier ourselves, with volume, we can provide our BBQ squid at a better price. It's all about scale and how serious we are about becoming the best BBQ wholesaler providing the best quality we can. So when we say "fresh," it's not just a marketing term—it is fresh!
Why Choose Shiok BBQ's Marinated Squid?
You'd be surprised to know that even some of the best hotels use low-quality squid from Indonesia due to a lack of knowledge and resources. Why do we know? We are the chefs ourselves! But at Shiok BBQ, we are now part of the seafood supply chain. We supply high-quality squid to top hotels in Singapore. We love to smoke the squid, but we don't wish to smoke you. Know your seafood and get the best—smell, taste, and experience the difference.
Quality & Cost Of Our Marinated Squid
As a supplier, we import our own seafood for marination, that helps to bring down our costs, so don’t worry about the price. We promise this is the best marinated squid you can get, and probably no one in the BBQ Wholesale Market can offer it at such a competitive price given this quality.
