EM5 was designed as a DAC/AMP for high-end headphones, with a range of different connectors, including balanced XLR and 4.4mm. It can also be used as a DAC and pre-amplifier when combined with a separate power amplifier or active speakers.

Balanced Outputs

Utilizing both 4-pin and 4.4mm jack, EM5 can be used with a vast majority of balanced headphones. And for anything else there is the standard 6.35mm output.

MQA Compatible

EM5 support 8x MQA playback from locally stored files, Streaming apps and over USB input.

Separated Power Supply

To achieve the ideal sound performance in such a complicated device, Shanling decided to split the power supply between two sections. Analog components are powered by a small and highly efficient toroidal transformer, in combination with high-performing German capacitors, helping to achieve cleaner and smoother sound. 

Digital section is powered by a switching power supply, with a specially designed voltage stabilizing circuit, helping to keep unwanted noise and interferences at a minimum.
