First edition, published several months before the first UK edition, of the first collection of Parker Pyne stories.

Issued on 20 June 1934 (and later in the UK as Parker Pyne Investigates, William Collins & Sons, November 1934), the volume brings together twelve short stories centred on the retired civil servant who advertises in the Times “Personal” column, offering to cure unhappiness. He styles himself a “detective of the heart” – though often by decidedly unconventional means.
