Welcome to GiroDisc!

Brake rotors have long been the overlooked link in performance car braking systems. Traditional 1-piece brake rotors are heavy and retain heat, diminishing their effectiveness and adding unsprung weight that adversely affects handling.

When GiroDisc was founded in 2003, we made it our mission to design and manufacture 2-piece brake rotors that would perform flawlessly at the limits. Our fully-floating design uses tension hardware to ensure that our rotors are silent on the street, but ready to go on the track.

By specializing in this area, we can dedicate our efforts to push our engineering and manufacturing to the highest levels in the industry. Customers around the world have found success maximizing the capabilities of their existing brake systems by installing GiroDisc rotors. This often negates the need for a pricier, more complex upgrade like a big brake kit.

GiroDisc is headquartered in Bellingham, Washington, where we design, engineer, manufacture and fulfill orders on site.

The primary purpose of the Girodisc system is to reduce unsprung and overall vehicle weight. The secondary purpose is to increase the ventilation and cooling capacity of the brake disc while retaining it's original dimensions. This is accomplished by using two-piece disc construction. The central hat section of the disc is made from 6061-T6 aircraft specification aluminum.

The disc is made from cast iron, to the same specification and material as used by professional racing organizations. It is a curved vane design, developed in racing to act as a centrifugal pump to force cooling air through the disc. The rotor and hat have a floating mount system, which utilizes high strength alloy steel drive pins, manufactured by Girodisc to our own specifications and cadmium plated for a long lasting corrosion resistance. These pins take the load from braking actions while maintaining the axial and radial float between the hat and disc. The pins are secured by grade 12 cap screws with hardened washers. In order to keep the rotors from making noise when cold, the pins are mounted with anti-noise spring clips on the rotor side which allow the rotor to grow with heat expansion but eliminate the rattle and noise associated with floating rotors. This float also allows the rotor
to self center between the pads.

Important Questions Answered

Q: What is required to install the Girodisc system?

A: The Girodisc system is a direct replacement for the OE disc.
No modifications are necessary. The disc will bolt directly to the car and work with OE calipers and pads perfectly. Once the Girodisc system is in place, simply replace the cast iron rotor when needed. Some discs are larger in diameter and come with caliper spacers. If longer bolts are required, they are also supplied.

Q: How does reducing weight of the braking system benefit the vehicle?
A: The Girodisc will generally weigh between 4 8 lbs less than the oe disc it will replace. This is due to the heavy cast iron hat section being replaced with lightweight, high strength aluminum. The mass of any vehicle requires energy to accelerate or decelerate. Reducing the vehicle mass improves acceleration, and requires less energy to be dissipated during deceleration. Rotating mass requires additional energy in order to increase or decrease its speed of rotation. Decreasing the mass of the disc has a great benefit due to reduction in rotational inertia. This will allow more of the braking force to be available to decelerate the vehicle, not the disc.
Additionally, the mass of the brake system is also unsprung mass. Reducing the unsprung mass has the additional benefit of improved suspension performance, resulting in enhanced ride and handling. Rotating masses require additional energy to vary the plane on which they turn. The lighter the disc, the quicker the response of the vehicle steering due to the reduction in gyroscopic effect/rotational inertia of the disc. As an example, compare the weight of the Ferrari 360 OE disc at 18.2 lbs, and the Girodisc at 14 lbs. The Girodisc is 4.2 lbs lighter per disc. Replacing all four discs will save 16.8 lbs of rotating, unsprung mass.

Q: Why slotted discs?
A: The edges of the slots continuously clean and refresh the pad surface. This will allow the pads to have a maximized friction surface always available. Additionally, they prevent containments from collecting between the pad and disc interface.
The disc is lightened, decreasing its rotational inertia.
Slots prevent the formation of a water film on the disc in wet weather, maintaining the best brake response.

Very classy looking! Perfect height and length for TKL keyboards!
This wrist rest is the perfect height and length for my TKL keyboards! The wood is soft and smooth. It looks VERY classy compared to some of the wrist rests I've used in the past. The non-slip pads work great too. The only thing I could find that was wrong is that the logo is upside down. It's not visible though because it's the edge that meets the keyboard so it's never seen. I find it endearing actually! Everything else is perfect, so I'd definitely recommend!

Classy look, but finish issue
This walnut wrist rest looks great on the desk—simple, solid, and much nicer than foam or gel options. It has a clean, polished style that pairs well with a keyboard, and the non-slip base keeps it from sliding around. I wasn’t sure how I would like it compared to the soft cushy pad I used before, but it’s actually been pretty comfortable. The firmness gives steady support, and I haven’t found it too uncomfortable even after longer typing sessions. The one drawback is a spot where the finish has worn or dissolved. It wasn’t there when I first got it, so I suspect the coating isn’t as durable as I’d hoped. It doesn’t affect how it feels in use, but it does stand out on an otherwise sharp-looking piece. Overall, it’s a nice upgrade if you want a wooden wrist rest, just be aware the finish might not stay flawless over time.

Classy, Comfortable, and Built to Last!
I’ve never tried a wooden wrist rest before, but after going through a few padded ones (even some expensive name-brand versions) that eventually peeled or fell apart, I figured this was worth a shot. And I’m so glad I did! This walnut wrist rest is smooth, beautifully made, and looks amazing on my desk. I have a whitewashed office setup, but this piece looks so good that I half-joked about wanting to change my desk to match it! It adds a very clean, grown-up aesthetic to the space. One thing I really appreciated is that it comes in several sizes to suit different setups. I ordered the largest available, and while it’s just a couple inches shy of covering the full length of my keyboard, it still works perfectly. It has non-slip grips on the bottom that keep it in place, and even though it’s made of solid wood, it’s surprisingly comfortable and ergonomic to type with. It’s also super low-maintenance—just wipe it clean with a damp cloth. For the $26–$29 price range, I think it’s a fantastic value and honestly better than some of the big-name options I’ve tried. This is a quality piece I expect to hold up for a long time, and I’m really happy with it!!

Check the height of your keyboard before ordering
This is a beautifully made, elegant looking wrist rest. The finish is satin perfectly smooth to the touch. As keyboards vary in height, be sure to measure he height of the front edge of yours before ordering—I didn’t (which is entirely my fault) and found that this wrist rest is just a wee bit too tall, which positioned my wrists a tad higher than I’m used to. Another factor you may want to consider are the ergonomics of solid wood versus other materials and your personal preferences (e.g., I tend to prefer cloth covered gel, because he cloth keeps my wrists from sticking and the gel is cushioning). My closing thought: this wrist rest is that it is by far the best looking of any wrist rest I’ve ever seen. Simply outstanding.
Color: Walnut, Size: 42.5 Inch, Color: Walnut, Size: 42.5 Inch
For years I was against monitor risers and stands as a concept easily defeated by VESA mount on monitor arms, but I overlooked a secondary function that monitor risers have: Display and storage. I have too many keyboards. Three that I regularly use. Now I can throw two of them in a drawer when not in use, or I can look at them and appreciate them all the time. I’m not a fan the usual keyboard displays either: awkward acrylic stepladders that they are. So had to figure out something else. I also have a headphone amplifier that I like quite a bit but was just sitting out on the desktop. So I looked at seemingly every monitor riser that exists on Amazon, and elsewhere and found that this Fenge product (Rodin on their website) fits the intersection of value, good build quality, and beautiful design aesthetic. Unlike the Hexcal shelf, which has great build quality and design, but costs $600+, for $109 (at time of purchase), you get a visually intriguing multilevel riser with aluminum hairpin feet, good sturdy materials, a beautiful (albeit synthetic) warm walnut finish (though available in four other finishes as well). Cleans easily with a dry or lightly damp rag. This isn’t your Mind Reader riser with all function but being an eye sore. It’s also pricey enough and has an interesting enough product to feel premium without being unreasonably priced for what you get. Building it was a pleasure. Packed so well, and everything in order as far as parts go. Wasn’t missing any, assembled so easily, and even better to see in person than in pictures. I have a 72” desk and had to rearrange some things to fit it, but well worth it. It serves the functions I need, but if you need more from it (like holding your devices), there’s another variant with phone, headphone and laptop stand built into this design. Also, if this isn’t visually interesting enough, there’s a third version with RGB and an acrylic lower shelf to create some illuminating pop on your workspace. As you can see, my workspace has no shortage of illumination as is, so I skipped that. But I think it did well. It partially displays my keyboard collection, stores my headphone amp, can hold a pen or two as I study, and I don’t need it to do much more on the regular. I know it won’t fit every desk aesthetic, but if you already have tech statement pieces on your desk, this may be the perfect complement.
