Armadillo are referred to as the hissing isopod because, when startled, they will tuck themselves into a tight ball, rubbing their legs on the inside of their carapace to create a hiss like sound. *Please expect to receive a variety of sizes from juvenile to subadult, we only include isopods that are fully colored in our counts.
