Description:
Passed down through the generations of Karla Zazueta’s family, she explores cooking techniques and ingredients brought in from lesser explored regions. This is a true taste of north Mexico using fresh produce, bursting with flavour, colour and – crucially – history.
The Mexican cuisine that most people are familiar with is from the centre or the south of the country, but in Norteña, Karla Zazueta shares the dishes and ways of cooking that she grew up with. Norteña – meaning ‘northerner’ – tells the tale of the northern states of Mexico – of the coastlines and fresh seafood, the cattle ranches, sun-ripened fruit and vegetables and the family gatherings around the table.
The recipes in the book include the world-famous Baja fish tacos, ‘piggy’ pinto beans, vegan chorizo, crab tostadas, sopes (corn patties) served in a tomato broth and empanadas californianas (shredded beef empanadas), all accompanied by mouth-watering spicy salsas, fresh queso and zingy salads.
There are recipes para la sed (for the thirst), which includes the best margaritas. The book ends on something sweet, with recipes such as Mexican flan and camotes (sweet potato poached until tender in a sweet, spiced syrup). The recipes are accompanied by longer texts that describe the different cultural events and influences that play such a huge part in the cuisine, such as the tamales estilo Sinaloa, wrapped with special care at Christmas time.
Karla’s understanding of flavour shines through in her recipes and she suggests substitutes throughout so you can recreate the authentic taste using ingredients from the supermarket. In addition, man

A "Maybe" for smaller breeds. Not for pitties that study and exploit their prey's weaknesses..
Size: X-Small, Color: Fox, Size: X-Small, Color: Fox
Not for my pittie. I wasn't paying attention to the size of the toy when I ordered it. I knew as soon as I opened the box that it wasn't going to work out, but I didn't pay too much more than I would have if I bought it from Ross and I didn't want to fuss with trying to return it.
The weakness in the toy is in the faux fur fabric that forms the main pocket. There's too much space around the squeaker and the fabric is thin enough for a larger breed to puncture through the fabric with their teeth to grip and rip. Once there's an opening in the main fabric, it's game over.
The seams of the toy are good, they are strong and well stitched.
The overall shape of the toy is also good- no appendages to grab ahold of. Only flaws of the toy is the type of fabric selected and too much empty space. May last for toy breeds and small breeds...but not for my pittie. She played with it for 5 minutes to learn its weaknesses and then promptly gutted the squeaker from the fox in another 5 minutes.

Great buy would buy again
Size: X-Small, Color: Owl
Very durable dog toy. Lasted longer than any other toy with a squeaker for my wiener dog. Great squeak ability. Cute as can be.

Holds up well with aggressive chewers.
Size: X-Small, Color: Pig
This is my dog's favorite toy. And she has LOTS of toys so that is big endorsement. Miss Trina ( 40 pound boxer) loves to squeak it in Enzo's ( big brother 140 pound Cane Corso) face when he is sleeping. They also play tug of war . They destroy the toy eventually ( we are on the third one) but it holds for a few weeks. Miss Trina also likes to par corps around the house with this toy. Her favorite way to use this toy is bring it my husband for him to throw it . If he is napping she just drops in on his face. Definately recommend this toy.

Fun toy for my dogs but squeaker broke easily
Size: X-Small, Color: Pig
So far my aggressive chewer dog hasn’t been able to rip this toy apart but in one day she did break the squeaker inside. But I like that she hasn’t been able to rip it apart so it is pretty tough. I got this on a deal so it was good price for a toy that will last. Put 1 star down because the squeaker quality wasn’t the best when she was able to break it so fast. Esp love that it has no stuffing. And it’s a cute pink pig which is great.

My puppy loves this pig
Size: X-Small, Color: Pig
This pig is great! My puppy loves it. It’s fun to throw. It’s soft and furry on the outside with strong edges and very durable. We’ve had it 4 months while my puppy was teething and it’s as good as new. It’s adorable too! 5 out of 5 stars !
