Here is “The Great” Brucknerian Symphony par excellence—the tragic one, the apocalyptic one. Titan-like in its aspect and duration, of a spiritual dimension and radiant wisdom. In truth, we lack words and superlatives…

Of all Bruckner’s symphonies, the Eighth is the most monumental, an immense fresco upon which the musical nineteenth century closes, the crowning achievement of the Romantic symphony. The Eighth has sometimes been subtitled the “Symphony of Fate,” by analogy with Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, also in C minor. This label, however, should be understood as an abuse of language: Beethoven is filled with Man who, on an epic mode, ultimately affirms his victory. Bruckner is filled with God: Man, the artist, has as his mission the revelation of a divine truth, and struggles for that revelation. It is this struggle—not, properly speaking, a ‘fate’—that is expressed in the Eighth Symphony, with its tragedies and its hopes.

As always, Eugen Jochum, a fervent Brucknerian, behaves like a prophet, and public performances seem to suit him particularly well. This recording, which captures more fully the acoustics of Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, gives us the impression of being seated in the first balcony, as though we were truly present on that memorable evening of 26 September 1984 among the audience. A great moment of music.

Enjoy your listening

Looks terrific - great price
I needed to replace just one, but ended up using both the left and right so that they matched. In the closeup picture you can see that the original part is chrome with black on the inside edges of the fins, where the replacement is all chrome. This is only obvious up close if you're looking for it. There is also a slight gap in the fit at the lower inside corner - so not perfect, but also not noticable at any reasonable distance. Wide shots shows both replacement parts installed. As others have mentioned, this is not the same quality as the original BMW part - but at 1/4 of the price, it is a darn good value and has restored the look of my car. FOR 2003 CONVERTIBLE OWNERS: This part fits the "pre-facelift" model manufactured through March 2003. I learned this the hard way, because I didn't know about the facelift that came half a year later for cabriolets than it did for hard top models. Make sure you know which side of that manufacturing date your 2003 convertible is on before ordering.

Buy OEM
Finish is fine but sizing is wrong and these don't fit tight but rattle. About 3/4" movement in all ways, which will lead to scratched paint. If you've got a beater, these are fine but for my clean M3, I'll buy OEM from FCP or Turner.
