From Gibson Custom comes a limited-edition guitar that takes the 50s J-45 story and adds a couple of important chapters. The impetus for this guitar design was to add player focused features to the already well-loved 50s J-45 original guitars, without breaking the bank. Together with the crew from Gibson Bozeman, Russo Music injected some horsepower into key areas of the traditional J-45 design, without losing the essence of the 50s J-45 Original guitars.

Most notably, these guitars are Gibson’s first foray into the world of Sinker Mahogany, commonly used by other guitar companies like Martin for unique builds. Sinker Mahogany is the name given to the old growth Mahogany logs that didn’t make it from forest to port during Central American logging expeditions of centuries ago. These logs instead fell off their rafts and plunged to the murky depths of the river systems, aging in a unique ecosystem of water and silt for hundreds of years after being cut. Fast forward to present day, and these logs are pulled to the surface and milled into lumber that can be used to create guitars. Exact age being unknown, these trees were potentially a couple hundred years old at the logging point, then aging underwater for a couple hundred years after that. So, the back and sides of this series of guitars are roughly in the 400-year-old range.

Visually, Sinker Mahogany will often be darker in color with deep blacks and rich browns. The striations are much darker from hundreds of years of sediment passing over the material. Tonally, Sinker Mahogany guitars have the nice flat EQ we love from mahogany, but they tend to sound aged in/broken in quicker which leads to nice accents across the entire frequency range. This batch in particular has a nice mid-range punch with a strong top end and even bass. They are an exceptional vocal accompaniment guitar.

The top is Sitka Spruce just like the standard production 50s J-45 Original, but we decided to step up the top bracing to the 30s Style Open X-Brace, or the Advanced X-Brace pattern. Still hand scalloped, but with more room for the top to move under the bridge. On top of that, or should we say in-between, we replaced the wood glue with hot hide glue to adhere the bracing to the Sitka Spruce top. Traditional hot hide glue crystalizes when it dries, transferring vibration from part to part, with less absorption compared to other adhesives. You will also find hot hide glue in the dovetail neck joint for the same reason.

The neck profile on these guitars is the 50s rounded profile from the production run. This being one of the most loved parts of the production model. Also carrying over are the larger pickguard and the factory installed LR Baggs VTC. They may not have had great acoustic pickup systems in the 50s, but we do now so why not throw it in!

Finally, on this Gibson Custom model, the Vintage Sunburst nitrocellulose lacquer has a hand rubbed VOS finish treatment for that vintage gloss look.

**These guitars ship in the original case in which they were received; case color may vary guitar to guitar from the case pictured in this listing.

Best chew toy and training item on the market!
Size: Small (Pack of 1), Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
I'm a Dog Trainer, specializing in early canine education with Puppies between eight and 18 weeks . The Kong is the best thing you can give a dog! You can stuff these things with all kinds of yummy things. I love to get creative with the Kongs. Adding novelty to your dog's life improves their brain health. I can't even give examples because I would be here all day. For dogs who eat kibble you can soak your kibble in water or better yet bone broth, then once it's soft, fill the kong with the kibble and put it in your freezer. Keeps your dog busy for a long time, you don't have to buy extra stuff because you just give them the kibble you're already going to give them. (I recommend getting at least one, but up to six for each dog so you can give them their entire daily allowance of food in the Kongs). The licking /chewing helps them relieve stress and gives them something to enjoy inside their crate. I learned this from Dr. Ian Dunbar and I highly recommend his training courses on a platform called Dunbar Academy to learn how to properly raise a Puppy into the best dog you've ever had. He has helpful information for older dogs too, but you really want to train your puppy properly so you can avoid the behavior problems in the first place. It's super cheap too, and easy to learn from. Plus these are great chew toys for heavy chewers because as long as you get the right size for your dog, they can't destroy this thing! AND it bounces, so you can actually play fetch with it like it's a ball. Every single dog deserves a Kong, so if you don't already have one, go ahead and do that right now. You won't regret it, and your dog definitely will love you more.

My pup loves her Kong
Size: Small (Pack of 1), Product Packaging: Standard Packaging, Size: Small (Pack of 1), Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
My little pup loves her Kong! She’s about 14 pounds so I recommend any dog with that size to get the small size. The quality is great. Extremely durable, but still workable enough for her to get in and find all the goodness!

Heavy duty, excellent quality
Size: Small, Color: Textured Ring, Size: Small, Color: Textured Ring
I trust the Nylabone brand and would not buy a cheap substitute to save a few bucks. This ring is heavy duty. I got it for our 9-week-old puppy and it keeps her interested and entertained with all the little nubs. She uses it more as a toy than something to chew on, tossing it around and mouthing it. It's very hard so I'm not worried about her being able to chew off any little pieces at this point. This satisfies her for now and helps to keep her busy and reigns in some of her puppy energy. Recommend!

Strong
Size: Small, Color: Textured Ring
My French Bulldogs have really strong jaws and are aggressive chewers. These really are sturdy and last a good amount of time. I replace every couple of months and they are one of my dogs favorites and easy for them to hold onto.
