A striking 19th century French Louis Philippe style bleached commode handcrafted of walnut with a bookmatched burled walnut front by talented artisans in Lyon, circa 1870s. Having a beautiful black marble top that rests above a doucine apron drawer with three drawers below, each having gilt-brass lion's head ring pulls and decorative gilt-brass escutcheons. Resting on shaped pistolet feet. ​Although the elaborate and carved elements of past French styles were abandoned during the Louis Philippe period, the craftsmanship was still superb.
