It is approximately 75% heartwood a dark brown to deep purple brown with a strong linear grain pattern and 20% creamy sapwood. There is a sliver of bark along one edge that can be removed or secured; it is loosely attached. Most of the sapwood is along one edge and will turn off as the block is rounded, leaving a wide and tapering

This is a nice, potentially-striped block of Black Walnut. It is approximately 75% heartwood - a dark brown to deep purple brown with a strong linear grain pattern - and 20% creamy sapwood.   There is a sliver of bark along one edge that can be removed or secured; it is loosely attached.  Most of the sapwood is along one edge and will turn-off as the block is rounded, leaving a wide and tapering linear stripe up the length of the turning. That could be very interesting.

I see a few fine end-grain checks that you might wish to secure with CA glue prior to turning.
