Albert Ernest Carrier Belleuse French (1824 1887) was a French sculptor. He was one of the founding members of the Socit Nationale des Beaux Arts, and was made an officer of the Legion of Honour. One of the most successful and prolific French sculptors of the mid 19th century, Carrier Belleuse exhibited regularly in the Paris Salons.

Albert Ernest Carrier-Belleuse French (1824-1887) was a French sculptor. He was one of the founding members of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, and was made an officer of the Legion of Honour.
One of the most successful and prolific French sculptors of the mid-19th century, Carrier-Belleuse exhibited regularly in the Paris Salons. Among his apprentices were Rodin, Dalou and Falguière.
The present model, is in the classical Beaux-Arts tradition, and the signature 'A. Carrier' indicates that the work was conceived prior to 1868 when the artist began to sign his works 'A. Carrier-Belleuse'.
The base is 5 inches square, the sculpture is 3.5 inches by 3.25 inches. The bronze is 8 inches tall and the overall height is 10 inches.
