GET ON DOWN EXCLUSIVE

PRESSED ON CLEAR VINYL

LIMITED TO 300 COPIES

The 2025 limited red smoke pressing sold out, due to high demand Gate Girl Records has repressed the 30th Anniversary Edition in a limited run of clear vinyl.

Originally recorded while still in high school, Lil Grimm’s Children of the Corn emerged from the heart of Memphis’ underground rap scene in October 1995. Released first on cassette in a tiny run that circulated hand-to-hand, the record became a word-of-mouth phenomenon—passed around schoolyards, dubbed on boom boxes, and traded in parking lots long before “going viral” had a name.

Influenced by the rising “horrorcore” sound pioneered by Memphis legends DJ Paul and DJ Squeeky, Grimm and his crew put their own sinister twist on the formula: haunting samples, ghostly synth lines, and a suffocating atmosphere that set them apart in the city’s fertile underground. The Children of the Corn project blended Grimm’s grim storytelling with the paranoia and menace of early-90s Memphis street culture—earning it cult status among tape collectors and rap historians alike.

Key tracks like Deep Into the Woods” and Devil Sh*t” showcase Grimm’s ability to paint vivid, nightmarish soundscapes, striking a balance between street authenticity and horror-fueled surrealism. These songs, and the record as a whole, would go on to influence generations of DIY rappers who built their identities on limited cassette runs, dark beats, and relentless hustle.

With its 30th Anniversary Remastered Edition, Children of the Corn is no longer just a local legend—it stands as a cornerstone of Memphis rap history, preserved for longtime fans and new listeners alike.

Note: This was originally recorded on cassette and is a lo-fi recording remastered from cassettes.

Perfect if you're anything like me
Color: White, Size: 2 Layer
I have about 20 small jewelry boxes sitting in my closet, stacked up high, threatening to topple over any time I reach over them to grab something else. I don't know what's in those boxes, except that it's jewelry I purchased and liked well enough to keep so that I could wear it again. But since all of the pieces are closed up inside, I almost never wear them because I don't want to dig through all 20 boxes to find the 1 thing I want when I'm already almost late to wherever I'm going. If ANY of that sounds anything like you, you need this jewelry box. Is it the most premium thing you've ever seen? No, but does it have a lot of storage space for a pretty compact form factor and hold a ton of stuff? Yes, it totally does. And is the price super reasonable? Yes, it is. And if you kind of squint at it, and look through softer eyes, it doesn't really matter that yes, this is kind of cheaply constructed, and the dividers do move around a little bit because they're not anchored to the sides of the trays. I was able to consolidate all of those jewelry boxes down into this one box, and I no longer need to hold my breath when I try to grab something over the top of the pile because I was able to throw. them. all. out! The satisfaction of purging my own personal leaning tower of Pisa was worth the price alone. But onto the nitty gritty details: yes, the see-through part is acrylic and not glass. I'm okay with that because I don't need more breakable things sitting in my closet. Yes, the dividers aren't super stable. I'm okay with that because they work well enough and keep each piece where it belongs. Yes, it's pleather (aka "vegan leather"). I'm okay with that because I don't need cow hide to hold my jewelry to make it feel more precious, especially because most of my jewelry is pretty inexpensive stuff anyways. I don't notice any glaring cosmetic defects when looking at it, aside from the one very squiggly scratch in my acrylic top that doesn't bother me too much, but since it does mean that quality control may be a bit lacking, this gets a very solid 4 stars.
