Description:
Philip Massinger's tragedy The Roman Actor, was first performed in 1626, as King James I's reign came to an end and his son Charles I acceded to the throne. Three years later, when the play was published, relations between the king and many in parliament and the country had worsened. The Roman Actor - until recently neglected in the theatre but regarded by many critics, and Massinger himself, as his finest play - explores the balance between private and public moralities, effectively condemns tyranny, and defends plays, anatomising both the theatre of power and the power of theatre.
This new Revels Plays volume provides a modernised text, with a thorough introduction that sets out Massinger's intervention in the political tensions of his own time and examines his clear-eyed portrayal of the pleasures and perils of performance. It also includes a detailed commentary on the play designed to be of value to students, specialist readers and performers, and an appendix discussing the play's textual history. The edition focuses on the play's theatrical life in its own time and ours and, in addition to a detailed stage history, includes an interview with Sir Antony Sher, who played the role of the tyrannical Roman emperor, Domitian, in the Royal Shakespeare Company's acclaimed production in 2002. -- .

Helped me ace my final!
Format: Paperback
I strongly recommend this study guide to anyone who needs to understand and apply the pathophysiology in a final exam. The original book was the textbook for my pathophysiology course- it is over 1000 pages and overwhelming.
This study guide broke down the important aspects of each chapter into very doable practice questions. The answer guide at the back has perforations - so I tore mine out and it made it so much easier to follow along and study with this guide.
If you are struggling to learn/memorize/understand/apply all the pathophysiology concepts-I strongly suggest using this study guide. It really helped me get through my exam - and I am not a good test taker.
Good luck in your studies!

Helpful for exam preparation
Format: Paperback
This is helpful in getting me ready for exams. I fill it in and then study it with my other notes and resources before exams. The activities can be fun (crossword puzzle) or simple fill in the blank. I think I have found 1 or 2 errors that do not match up to the reading but I find errors in the online questions provided with the textbook as well. Helpful to absorb detailed topics. I appreciate that there are answers in the back also so I can ensure I have found the right answer. Love the section that provides hypothetical patient or family questions where I can take the knowledge and put it in layman's terms so I'm ready to explain the pathophysiology in basic terms when needed.

Important to Know
Format: Paperback
I very much like this study guide. It has helped me study for my exams. Some of my test questions have even come straight from this book. HOWEVER, I do caution anyone who buys this book to double check the answers. I have come across MULTIPLE typos and incorrect answers in the Answer Key. I like the content of this book, but for a professionally printed book, the overall completeness is poor.
