Overview

Eternal Ephemera is the first book dedicated to the visual culture and history of the possesso. This post-election procession led the pope from the Vatican to the Lateran, where he took solemn possession of his diocese as bishop of Rome.

In this collection, six essays symbiotically expose the long-lasting ramifications of possessi in sixteenth- and seventeenth-century Rome. This triumphant parade affected architecture and urbanism, triggered new art forms (prints of the cavalcade or arches and chiaroscuro painting), and connected ephemera with the popular demand for moral economy. This volume innovatively shows the artistic and architectural legacy of the ephemeral in the Eternal City.

Jennifer Mara DeSilva is Associate Professor of History at Ball State University and the editor of The Borgia Family: Rumor and Representation (Routledge, 2019).

Pascale Rihouet is Senior Lecturer of Art History at the Rhode Island School of Design and the author of Art Moves. The Material Culture of Processions in Renaissance Perugia (Brepols, 2019).

Reviews
“From fine-grained art historical analyses that reveal the importance of artistic ephemera for permanent monuments to archival investigations that shed conside-rable light on the moral economy of the Eternal City, each study in this volume demonstrates the extent to which the possesso was both a bellwether of the papacy it introduced and an indicator of change.”
Elena Calvillo, University of Richmond

“Eyeing the ritual turn, this lively volume tracks the pope’s ceremonious installation as Rome’s own bishop. It surveys urban layout, ephemeral architecture, commemorations by word and image, social participation, and eager commentary on the pomp that pitched papal self-promotion against Rome’s lively moral economy.”
Thomas V. Cohen, York University

“In these essays, political power and conflict reanimate the streets of papal Rome with their decorations, officials on horse- back, scripted public ceremony, and ritual challenges to order. Through close examination of the prints, inscriptions, urban spaces, and other records of the spectacle with which power was transferred from one pope to another, we better understand the development of the city as well as forms of art, labour, and communication in the early modern world.”
Evelyn Lincoln, Brown University

Smooth, chocolate milk flavor with a massive protein punch
Flavor Name: Chocolate, Size: 14 Fl Oz (Pack of 12), Flavor Name: Chocolate, Size: 14 Fl Oz (Pack of 12)
The Context: I’ve tried a wide variety of protein supplements over the years, and many of them are a struggle to get down due to a thick, chalky texture or a chemical aftertaste. I picked up the Core Power Elite 42g shakes to use as a convenient meal replacement on busy days, and they have quickly become my go-to. The Performance: Flavor and Texture: The standout feature here is the taste. It genuinely tastes like high-quality chocolate milk rather than a supplement. It is remarkably smooth and lacks that dry, chalky finish that usually plagues high-protein drinks. Satiety: With 42g of protein in a single 14oz bottle, these are incredibly effective at keeping you full. When used as a meal replacement, I’ve found that they keep hunger at bay for significantly longer than lighter shakes or snacks. Convenience: The 12-pack is a great value, and the bottles are perfect for a grab-and-go lifestyle. They don't require any mixing or shaking to get rid of clumps, which makes them ideal for the car or the office. Nutritional Profile: For the amount of protein you're getting, the calorie count and sugar levels are well-balanced, making it easy to fit into a variety of nutritional plans without feeling like a "cheat" meal. Pros: Great Taste: No chalky texture or medicinal aftertaste. High Protein Content: 42g is a significant amount that helps with satiety. Solid Value: Purchasing the 12-pack is much more cost-effective than buying individual bottles. Cons: Thickness: Because it is milk-based, it is a bit richer than a water-based shake, which some might find heavy if they aren't used to it. The Verdict: If you want the benefits of a high-protein supplement but hate the typical "protein shake" experience, these are the answer. They are delicious, filling, and convenient. Whether you're using them for recovery or just as a quick meal replacement, they are one of the best-tasting options on the market.

Great Protein Source
Flavor Name: Chocolate, Size: 14 Fl Oz (Pack of 12)
Low calories, tastes awesome, good ingredients, convenient to throw in my backpack because it is resealable and doesn’t leak. Price is a bit high, however, the protein content is some of the highest I’ve seen. I drink at least 2 of these a day and have a case pack set up for auto renew every 2 weeks.

Smooth, tastes good, and ... WOW! 42g protein!
Flavor Name: Chocolate, Size: 14 Fl Oz (Pack of 12)
With 42g protein, I was a tad concerned about taste, though the reviews were encouraging. Many say it is smooth and tastes like chocolate milk. For sure, it is smooth and tastes good, similar to chocolate milk, but there is a marked difference between its taste and that of chocolate milk. Has a little bit of an aftertaste. For me, it is much better than was expected and I'm thrilled with the 42g. I will absolutely have one daily and recommend it to others, along with this tip – drink it very cold.

Great Gum to Help with Health Journey
Flavor Name: Spearmint, Size: 55 Count (Pack of 1)
This PUR Spearmint gum gets five stars from me. The spearmint flavor is really good and refreshing, but the only downside is the flavor doesn’t last super long compared to regular gum. Still, I bought this more for the cleaner ingredients than anything else since it fits into my current health journey and I wanted something aspartame-free. The gum has a little outer shell coating on it, but it’s still soft and easy to chew. It’s not hard or weirdly crunchy or anything like that. The family-size bag is also nice because it’s easy to throw in your car, backpack, or wherever without taking up a ton of space. Plus the resealable zipper bag helps keep it fresh. If you’re trying to avoid a bunch of chemicals and want a cleaner chewing gum option, this is definitely worth trying. I’d buy it again.

Good product
Flavor Name: Spearmint, Size: 55 Count (Pack of 1)
Very soft and chewy, sugar free and has good flavor. It does lose its flavor around 10 minutes in but that's how long its meant to be chewed for anyway.
