Mesquite Bowl Blank M-1153 3.2" x 5.8" x 7" 3.9 lbs. This is a complex and gnarly block of Texas Mesquite that will turn a gorgeous bowl. The colors are the deep reddish brown of Mesquite heartwood and dark brown bark. The bark is present as inclusions within the block. This bowl blank was cut from the outer portion of a burly log and contains numerous clusters of burl buds within a beautifully complex grain pattern. The block is rough-sawn. We are providing photographs of all faces -- please scroll through to see all, as only 3 display by default. There are a number of pith-associated, age-darkened cracks throug this block. They are discontinuous, and the block is sound. They are partially opened and are candidates for filling with epoxy, if desired. Note - the pith-related, radial cracks in Mesquite are not drying features but are formed by severe dynamic stress on the tree during growth (think Texas hurricanes, tornados, or lightning strikes). They are unlikely to grow any larger once the lumber has been harvested and dried. This block has been air-dried to 10-12% moisture content. It has a lot of character that we've attempted to show in the photos. There may be additional surprises on the inside, such as bark inclusions. We recommend keeping CA glue handy while turning Mesquite. Mesquite is a joy and a challenge to turn. |

Exceeded expectations!

This ball launcher has been the best thing we ever bought. We have a golden retriever who of course, like most goldens, is ball obsessed. I have thrown my fair share. I decided to see if my golden was smart enough to use this so we pulled the trigger. It took 3 days of on an off training and BAM! We are in business! This launcher has been a CHAMP! We've had it a month now and it has survived over and over of constant use. The balls are covered in pure slobber and nastiness but the machine keeps going. We do keep it plugged in and only use it indoors. Sometimes the ball does get stuck but it's easy to push it back through. The only complaint I have, and it's no fault to the company, but we are already on our 2nd pack of replacement balls. Honestly, it's been worth it. I probably should have purchased the bigger size but I didn't want to invest in it if he wouldn't use it. Definitely regretting it now!

Lightweight Balls

lightweight but solid. Unfortunately, I can't bring to dog park for my dog to play with as the larger dogs will destroy them. Not for dogs that chew through everything.
