The MT-100 from Paul Reed Smith is a brand new amplifier designed in collaboration with AlterBridge and Creed guitarist, Mark Tremonti. This 100 watt powerhouse was built to satisfy Tremonti's tonal needs in a single über-reliable all-tube head. After five years of R&D behind this project, fronted by a 25+year touring musician in two of hard rock's biggest bands, the MT-100 is a versatile workhorse amplifer.

The MT-100 is a three-channel amp running on a quartet of 6L6GC power tubes. Channels are Clean, Overdrive, and Lead - with each of the three channels having a truly independent control set. Controls from left to right on each channel are Presence, Master Volume, Bass, Middle, Treble, and Gain*. (*Volume on the clean channel.)

An important design feature of the MT-100 for Tremonti himself was to not make a three-channel amplifier in which the lead channel is a revoiced or higher gain version of the Overdrive channel 2. Instead, each of the three channels on the MT-100 is an entirely unique circuit. To make that possible, the MT-100 is loaded with eight 12AX7 preamp tubes, with each of the three channels having their own dedicated preamp tube complement.

Channel 1 delivers a glassy, bell-like clean tone, while the Lead channel 3 is a high-gain juggernaut with excellent bass response. The Overdrive Channel 2 is the feature that Tremonti says is "what took so long" to design. Inspired by the tactility of one of his favorite Dumble amps, while not being a straight Dumble clone by any means, the Overdrive channel is a highly versatile original circuit with incredible harmonics.

In addition, the MT-100 features a tube driven series effects loop, tube bias jacks, 8 and 16 Ohm extension speaker outputs, removable power cable, and an included three-button footswitch for channel switching.

When two of the biggest names in tone and music collide, the end result is a product that absolutely delivers in strides. This, the PRS MT-100 is an amp made by a player for players.

Fascinating and beautifully written.
Format: Hardcover
Clear and compelling reading of the much-neglected history of Carthage -- all its histories had been written by the victors in Rome. BTEW y four-colour photo insert was missing a page....shame on Norton, the puboisher.

Excellent Overview of Carthage
Format: Hardcover
293 pages of text/maps/b&w figures; 8 pages of color plates; 15 pages of end notes (mostly citations); 20 page Bibliography; 6 page Primary Bibliography; 2 page Acknowledgements; 8 area maps; 1 battle map [Cannae]. This is a well written history of Carthage. It provides a one source overview of the background and history of the city/empire. As a reasonably well read layperson, I am familiar at an overview level with the Punic Wars, Rome, Alexander, and the Alexandrine successor states and this book packaged Carthaginian information very well while adding interesting information that I hadn't come across before. I was somewhat disappointed (hence the 4 star rather than 5 star rating) that there was a very limited drill down to a lower level of detail, particularly from such a noted author. However, this is probably an unfair criticism given the limited amount of archeological information available and the millennia of effort that has been spent in pigeonholing Carthage according to the desired perceptions. I recommend the book highly as a well written overview of Carthage.
