    About Sharon

Sharon Numina was born in 1981 and attended Kormilda College in Darwin. She is one of six sisters and two brothers. Her mother, Barbara Price Mbtitjana, a senior painter and cultural elder from Stirling Station near Tennant Creek, instructed all her daughters in the art of painting. Sharon is recognised as one of the younger painters among the esteemed Numina Sister desert artists. Currently, she resides in Darwin with her older sisters.

Sharon's father, who has since passed away, hailed from Utopia. The narratives of Bush Tucker, Goanna Tracks, Dingo Trails, and other motifs represented in Sharon's artwork are derived from her mother's and father's Country, as well as the Dreaming totems and stories grounded in cultural knowledge.

Sharon, along with her sisters and mother, comes from a distinguished lineage of desert painters who have contributed to the contemporary Aboriginal art movement and the dot painting tradition. This lineage is influenced by the renowned painter aunts Gloria and Kathleen Petyerre, established artists in Alice Springs.

    About the artwork

This painting depicts the story of the skin of the “thorny devil”, which is referred to by Anmatyerre people as “mountain devil lizard”. The thorny devil is a beautifully patterned, dragon-like creature with barbs and humps across its back and large, bulging protuberances on its head, which camouflages its eyes. Surviving on small insects, it inhabits the dune areas of the country and can be found across much of the Western Desert. The lizard is said to change colours in the desert as the sun rises and sets, and dew catches on its skin, reflecting the ability of the Mountain Thorny Devil Lizard to change from plain to vivid colours. A very detailed work created by a series of swirls in the alluring colours of yellow, orange, red, pink and white. It captures a feeling of gentle transition and movement.

    Dermatologist recommended
Style: Sunscreen Stick, Size: 1.5 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I did a light study on these products and this one is recommended by dermatologist with lots of good reason. There’s one dermatologist on you tube that does the most extensive and short, to the point at the same time, explanation of the different products on the market and what you want in a sunscreen. It’s worth looking it up if you used a lot of this product. She wasn’t selling anything but suggested this as one that’s the safest to use you should look that one up if it’s a concern. It’s the best and most simplified piece that I’ve seen on the subject. I recommend this one because that doctor recommended it. I still tan with it but I don’t burn. My pasty white skin likes to burn lol. It stays on with water reasonably well. I like the small package. It lasts pretty good too. I try to travel light and things like this really help. With a light load towel and a few things compact I can carry everything in a very small gym bag. This compact packing is awesome. The speedstick type applicator. The whole thing isn’t just perfect and a great product overall

Silky smooth texture, goes on easily and works well. Feels a little thick and greasy but not as much as other brands.

    Great Even With Excema
Size: 0.47 Ounce (Pack of 1)
This product is amazing. I have fairly bad eczema and am a 59-year-old woman so I've had it my whole life. My lips have had bad eczema since they were sunburned 4 years ago. I had to let them heal before I could use any products but since they have healed, I have been using this product on my lips for sun protection during golf and running outside in Florida. It doesn't bother my eczema at all and in fact I think helps my lips stay moist and even helps heal them when a spot starts to occur. I have about six of them spread out in purses and cars and different spots in the house and of course my golf bag. I would highly recommend this product. It does make my lips turn white but I really could care less because of the level of protection that it provides. It's worth it and it wipes off easily with a tissue. There are many, many products that Ive tried that irritate my lips and cause a rash and this is one of the few that does not.

    Yes !
Size: 0.47 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I order these every summer. My youngest is sensitive to sunscreens but this had always worked for him. The stick is handy when it comes time to re-apply and can stick in my purse for a quick trip to the park.
