The Craft: Carved Jade and Silver Filigree

Each stick begins with a polished black ebony shaft. A pale green Xiuyan jade carving, shaped like a floral or leaf motif, is affixed to the top via a silver-colored metal pin. From the jade piece hangs a silver chain ending in a lotus-shaped pendant with engraved petal details, accented by two small silver beads.

The combination of smooth wood, translucent jade, and delicate silverwork creates a layered, classical look suitable for formal or ethnic styling.

The Xiuyan Jade

Xiuyan jade is a nephrite jade mined in Xiuyan County, Liaoning Province, China. It has been carved for centuries and is known for its soft, translucent greens. This piece shows subtle natural veining and slight color variation — marks of genuine stone, not defects.

The jade is hard but brittle; avoid drops onto hard surfaces. The silver components are solid S925, which may tarnish over time and can be polished gently.

Fit & Care

Works well for all hair volumes, including very thick and heavy hair. The rigid ebony shaft provides strong hold. Best for hair at least armpit length; optimal hold for bra-strap to waist length.
