Mercury was the ancient Roman's messenger god who protected merchants and travelers. Often interchangeable with the Greek god Hermes, Mercury wore a helmet that had wings sprouting from either side. This helmet helped the god to move around the world and the universe at a rapid pace, and is pictured on the head of these 1 ounce Mercury Silver Rounds.
Round Highlights:

- Obverse: Displays a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty wearing Mercury's winged cap. Above the capped Liberty head is the inscription, "Liberty," and under Liberty's chin is stamped, "In God We Trust."
- Reverse: Features a Fasces, or bunch of wooden rods tied together with an axe emerging from the top, which represents the power of ancient Roman Emperors, and is surrounded by an olive branch. The back of the round bears the legend, "999 Fine Silver, One Ounce," and, "E Pluribus Unum."
