This all begins with a dreadnought body assembled from a torrefied spruce top and layered figured AA-grade Hawaiian koa back and sides. Truly a special addition to the Academy Series, these two quality tonewoods produce an overall rich and lived-in sound usually reserved for higher-end Taylor models. Academy Series bracing and a carved armrest body contour produce balanced projection and added comfort, respectively.

Adding onto the playability of this Academy, a slim hard rock maple neck extends out from the dreadnought body. Another unique feature, a smoked eucalyptus fingerboard, joins with this neck to enable swift playing up and down the full scale length. Italian acrylic dot fret inlays tie these elements together. For performance, this electronically-equipped Academy Series features Taylor's ESB electronics system for seamlessly translating its sweet acoustic voices to the stage or studio.
