Dual lithology R-chondrite with visible compositional boundaries

This Sinawan 005 slice displays sharp boundaries between light and dark lithologies within a single 22.82g specimen. The contrasting zones represent different thermal metamorphic grades preserved in the same meteorite, a diagnostic feature of R5-6 classification. The light region shows coarser-grained recrystallization while the darker zone retains finer textures, visible across the entire face of the slice. Only three specimens of Sinawan 005 exist in collections worldwide.

Rumuruti-type chondrites constitute less than 0.5% of all classified meteorites. This specimen was recovered in Libya in 2023 and classified through analysis documented in the published scientific literature. The R5-6 designation indicates metamorphic grades straddling petrologic types 5 and 6, reflecting complex thermal history in the parent body interior.

Structure and features

The slice reveals two distinct lithologic domains separated by a visible transition zone. The lighter region occupies approximately 60% of the specimen face and displays homogenized mineral grains consistent with type 6 metamorphism. The darker domain retains partial chondrule structure and finer matrix material characteristic of type 5. This textural heterogeneity within a single stone indicates impact mixing or incomplete thermal equilibration on the parent body.

Olivine grains in both zones show the iron-rich composition typical of Rumuruti chondrites, distinguishing them from ordinary and carbonaceous types. The slice surface has been prepared to highlight the boundary between lithologies without obscuring internal structure. Minor weathering fractures cross both domains, consistent with terrestrial residence time in the Sahara.

Scientific context

Rumuruti chondrites formed on a distinct parent body separate from ordinary, enstatite, and carbonaceous chondrite sources. Oxygen isotope data place R-chondrites outside the terrestrial fractionation line, confirming a unique origin. The high oxidation state and iron-rich olivine composition suggest formation in a different region of the early solar system compared to more common meteorite types.

The dual lithology nature of Sinawan 005 specimens indicates the parent body experienced localized heating events or impact-driven mixing after initial formation. Type 5-6 metamorphism requires sustained temperatures between 700 and 950 degrees Celsius, likely achieved through internal radiogenic heating or large impact events. Understanding these transitional types helps constrain thermal evolution models for small planetary bodies. Frequently asked questions

Is this meteorite authenticated? Sinawan 005 is classified as Rumuruti (R5-6) in the Meteoritical Bulletin Database. You can verify the classification at Meteoritical Bulletin entry for Sinawan 005. A certificate of authenticity documenting the classification accompanies this specimen.

What does R5-6 classification mean? The R designation identifies this as a Rumuruti-type chondrite, a rare group with iron-rich olivine. The 5-6 indicates the specimen contains material from two metamorphic grades: type 5 with partial recrystallization and type 6 with complete thermal equilibration. This dual classification reflects heterogeneous heating history preserved in the meteorite.

What is included with this specimen? You receive the 22.82g slice shown in the photographs and a certificate of authenticity. No display stand is included.

Why are there only three known specimens? Sinawan 005 was found and classified in 2023, making it a recent discovery. The total known weight recovered was limited, and only three individual specimens have been documented. This reflects both the scarcity of the fall and the rarity of R-chondrites in general.

How should I display this dual lithology specimen? The contrasting zones are visible from both sides of the slice. Positioning under directional lighting enhances the boundary between light and dark domains. The specimen displays well in standard meteorite holders or acrylic stands that allow viewing of the entire prepared surface.

Collector significance

Rumuruti chondrites represent less than 0.5% of the meteorite collection population, making any R-type specimen a priority acquisition. Sinawan 005 adds documented scarcity with only three known specimens worldwide. The dual lithology feature provides immediate visual distinction from uniform chondrites and offers a tangible example of incomplete thermal processing.

The 22.82g size permits detailed examination of both lithologic zones while remaining display-friendly for cabinet collections. Scientific documentation in published literature adds research provenance beyond standard Meteoritical Bulletin classification. Collectors focusing on Chondrites or building comprehensive type collections will find limited future opportunities to acquire Sinawan 005 material. Rolls up easily
Color: Pastel, Color: Pastel
I purchased these bands after seeing all the positive reviews on Amazon. I like the color options and the variety of resistance bands, however the quality is not that great. Bands are thin and they roll up easily. I’ve used them both on bare skin (which I googled was not recommended because it irritates skin) and on top of leggings and both times the bands roll up. The bag it comes with is also very small and I basically have to roll up the bands to squeeze all of them in there. If you are a beginner at using bands, I think this product is alright. For more advanced workouts, would recommend better quality resistance bands.

A complete gym in your pocket.
Color: Assorted
Simple but effective. I'm able to pack these into almost anywhere and use them as a mini gym wherever I go. With a little creativity, they can be used to add resistance to almost any exercise. I use them for stretches, face pulls, bicep curls, and even with squats. 5 different resistance levels means you can mix and match to find the perfect resistance for whatever you're doing. I've had mine a couple of months now and have noticed no difference in elasticity or resistance, and I use them almost every day. Would definitely recommend as a portable resistance device and would definitely buy again.

A lot of comfort for a very inexpensive price
Style: 18", Color: Grey, Size: Twin
We needed a spare mattress, but didn’t want to have a dedicated spare bedroom but wanted a comfortable bed. Couldn’t afford these high priced mattresses these days like the air beds or luxury coil spring with gel which are thousands of dollars. Miss air mattresses, very comfortable and adorable and I like the flocked top on it. And it has the self inflatable pump which is very easy and inconvenient. This makes a very inexpensive alternative. Even if it only lasts 6 months or so you can buy a whole lot of these for a lot less money than thousands of dollars for the other beds. In tax is a wonderful brand. I’ve bought it many times. Their vinyl material is very thick and durable. Intex makes flotation devices, blowup rafts, beach floaties, Kayaks, etc. They have an excellent product & know what they’re doing.

Skeptical at first, but after first use (so far) it’s a solid product
Style: 22", Color: Grey, Size: Queen
I initially bought this to stay at my MIL’s senior community (to help her get settled), so I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on it and I planned to leave it for other relatives that might want to visit. I expected it to be cheap-ish quality and probably not last through my two week stay. First off, set up was a breeze. I laid it out and started inflation and it took about 4-5 minutes to fully inflate. The motor made noise, but it’s to be expected from something like this—I can say that it wasn’t as noisy as our Costco-bought mattress. Second, it’s big—but that’s not a bad thing as much as I thought anyway after I saw it fully inflated. Turns out, for me, it’s a good thing. Our Costco mattress sits low to the floor and as it deflates a bit during the night, it’s tough to get up. This one (the 22” model and the largest one at this writing) is wonderful as I can sit on the edge of it and stand up easily. Your experience may be different, but for older folks it makes it really easy to get out of bed in the morning. How does it sleep? Well, since I was visiting by myself and my significant other wasn’t with me, I can only speak for a single sleeper. It was really comfortable! It did take a bit of tweaking though as I thought I would like it more firm as I like to side sleep. The first couple of nights were a bit rough as I tossed and turned a bit in my sleep—I found that I couldn’t get comfortable on my side. For the reviews that say that it deflates after sleeping on it, I can say that it did seem to lose some air after the first two nights. The manufacturer does state that it does “stretch” and not deflate. As I wanted to test that statement, I didn’t change the firmness of it by re-inflating it to where I had it. The third and fourth nights were better sleep and I didn’t feel like the mattress deflated at all, so I found the stretch statement to be valid—it wasn’t losing air. After that night, I re-inflated it to where I thought I’d like it. The next night was the same tossing and turning that I had those first two nights, so I concluded that I needed to make it less firm and I actually DEflated it a bit and for the rest of the stay it was perfect! I didn’t have to touch it and I even unplugged it. When I was getting ready to leave, I started the deflation process by turning the dial in the opposite direction. It took longer to deflate, so I walked away for a bit—I’d guess about 7-8 minutes. When I came back the mattress was flat as a pancake and ready to fold. This is the only hassle of the process as folding it to get it into the storage bag and back into the box (for storage). I do like the tote that they provide as the handles make it easy to lug about. So, the first use was a success. If repeated uses reveal issues, I’ll report back. I will say that I plan to buy another one to replace our beloved Costco air mattress—she’s showing her age and the height of this one as well as the cost make it a no-brainer to get it as a second. We’ll use this one until it dies (if it even does) and then fall back on our old one if needed. I gave an overall 5 stars for the product with 4 stars for sleep quality and comfort only because your idea of these two might be a bit of a learning experience until you find your inflation sweet spot—so it’s not just an “inflate fully and use” type of scenario.
