The fine grain, absorbency, and control that a genuine gesso can give is quite unparalleled. Prepared carefully using traditional techniques, the gesso is made as it has been done for centuries, with just gelatin glue (also known as hide glue) and English whiting (calcium carbonate). Seven coats are applied to prepare each board with a final sanding of the surface to achieve an ivory like painting and drawing surface for perfect mark making.
All the panels use ecofriendly, ultra-low emission EO grade fibreboard and the surface is suitable for most painting and drawing techniques including the demanding requirements of Silverpoint and Egg Tempera. This is not just an acrylic paint pretending to be gesso. This is where tradition meets your creativity.
Available in 4x5 inch (102mm x 127mm - 3mm thickness) - 5x7 inch (127mm x 178mm - 6mm thickness) - 8x10 inch (203mm x 254mm - 6mm thickness).
